Burner is not as important as good quality DVDR discs. I use Pioneer, and never have problems.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Do some research. Read some reviews, check hardware enthusiast sites if you're really concerned. As long as you're using quality media and using the latest firmware for your burner you should be fine.

Whenever I've asked that question, I've always been told LiteOn or Pioneer are the best.

benq and liteon (however real benq not rebadges. real ones include 1620, 1640, 1650 and 1655)

always use genuine taiyo yuden as they're much better than the variable verbatims

So, I'm also looking into getting a Blu-ray burner. Do you guys know which is best for burning Blu-ray discs? Lite-on makes a Blu-ray/DVD/CD burner. Would that be ok? This is the model # of the Lite-on Blu-ray burner combo:

LH-2B1S

I want a Blu-ray burner so if/when a modchip comes out for the Playstation 3 so I can play backup PS3 games. But I also want a good burner for burning PS2 games. So, unanimously, Taiyo Yuden is the best DVD-R to use for PS2 games, and Lite-On is the best DVD burner. Can it be any Lite-on burner, or does it have to be a specific model, like the Pioneer DVR-111d is the reccomended model for burning dual layer DVDs. I appreciate all of your help

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Does Taiyo Yuden support Lightscribe?
