OK.. I was into all of this a while back, but I got it working with other programs and then I didn't mess with it for a while. I just got back on the forums after a long time away and found out about devhook v.51. I have a PSP with v1.5 firmware so i don't need to down grade. I downloaded devhook and installed it correctly (I think) and when i start it up it says that it is running in version 3.02 as it should be I quess. Now I try and go back into the devhook program to load a iso and it says "the game cannot be started. the data is corrupted". Now I havn't put any games on the stick yet, but it should still go back into devhook right? Also do you need any other programs to run iso files. I am asking because I have not used devhook before. yes I have read all of the "noob guides to devhook", but they do not tell you where to put the iso files or anything like that.

how big of a stick can i use with my PSP v1.5 running devhook.

one other thing.. I noticed the swap of the X and O buttons so i swaped out the 2 files to fix it and it is still the same. Not sure about that.

when it says the data is corrupted thats normal. instead press the home button at the XMB and go change UMD-Select to to File emulation and you should be able to go left and right thru the iso's on ur memstick. or u can select an iso before u boot into 3.02 by changing umd select on the main devhook screen.

Yeah and to swap the buttons, try going to FLASH INSTALL-->Install configfiles to flash1 to get them swapped to normal (remember keep your Ac adapter plugged in when doing this).

You know I was lookin at this stuff eternalis and i dont think devhook actually flashes it to flash. I think they just have "flash" up there and it is actually writing it to the memstick. I mean if devhook redirected flash access to the memory stick and you're emulating firmware from the memory stick, it would only seem logical that the flash1 files for the emulated firmware are on the memstick.

No it does write to flash. When you click on that option it says "Warning" and explains how it is writing to flash1: and it could brick your PSP. Also, I said to try and flash the configfiles in my previous post because people at PSP-Hacks posted that the buttons wouldn't swap unless you did that.

The flash1 files are on the memory stick, but there is a configfile in flash1:. Also I have dumped my flash1 and seen the DevHook files there so I'm certain it writes to flash.

Well if that file is needed and has to be flashed to the memstick then howcome when u use the devhook firmware installer you dont have to use the flash option in devhook. It installs the flash1 files and the config file but it doesnt flash anything to onboard NAND.

Yeah I've always wondered what the firmware installer did. But I just thought that it modified the DevHook EBOOT.PBP to read the configfiles from the memory stick instead of the flash.

Booster must have put in the flash1 flashing for some reason.

I dont think it does that. It would be hard to write a homebrew that can find a specific line in another homebrews coding and then change it. Witht he firmware installer u dont have to extract the data.psar, all u need is the eboot and devhook .51 on ur psp and it sets up EVERYTHING.

Considering that the firmware installer extracts the DATA.PSAR from the EBOOT.PBP and then decrypts it, I would say its capable of modifying the DevHook EBOOT.PBP.

We really need tommydanger to release the source code to find out how it works.

Extracting something and re-writing code are two "completely different ends of the spectrum" type thing. But ya I agree.

Not really it doesn't actually re-write the code. It just does a simple hexedit using the fwrite function.
