Jap Slim PS2: Cannot play FOX Region 1 DVDs!?

Hello,

I have a Japanese Slim PS2 modded with Matrix Infinity, and I realized it doesn't boot some region 1 DVDs. I've tried the Prison Break boxset and That Thing You Do, both cannot work (both FOX shows btw). Then I tried some other region 1 dvds like (Princess Mononoke, The Gladiator, etc), and it works fine. So...Fox DVDs do not work on the PS2? But I'm thinking they DO work on a US set but not the Japanese one.

Sigh...anyone with a solution to this problem?

Oh btw if it helps, I get the "This disc is not formatted to play in this region" error message. :(
