Im quite a new user of psp n read of alot of things regarding psp. But what i want is to play games from my memory stick without using UMD, wana watch videos on psp, listen music on it. I currently have 2.61. can any tell me is there any problem with 1.5 ro what functionality 1.5 dont hav which 2.61 have coz i like 2.61's interface. is ther 1.5 interface is same?
Finally i need to know what can be ther problems with 1.5 firmware.

there is no FW called 2.61. only 2.6. you cn downgrade and then upgrade to 2.71 SE-c which allows u to play games without UMD adn have all your games loaded from the game menu (MS) 1.5 is the same interface yes.

thnx for replyin.... but bruv when i go to SYSTEM INFORMATION it shows VERSION 2.61....
n tell me how can i update it to 2.71 n wat is the difference between 1.5 n 2.71. coz every1 says that u shud downgrade to 1.5 if u wana play games from memory stick without UMD.

2.61 never heard of that one?umm you can upgrade to 2.71 to run of memstick...but when you upgrade to 2.71 you can downgrade to 1.5...and on 1.5 you can use devhook to run the isos of mem stick...which can emulate firmware 3.02

i have a psp with firmwire 1.50 but wen i download a game n put it on,it doesnt work the screen just goes black.i only have two games on my psp which a man put on my psp wen i bought it frm pakistan.i have need for speed:carbon and def jam fight for ny:the takeover................plz help me

How are you loading the isos??...are you using devhook?...did you download them from a torrent site and used utorrent to download it?

@drunkeyez- You don't have to downgrade to firmware 1.5. Firmware 2.71 can also play ISOs (games from the memory stick) and homebrew. Once you have upgraded to 2.71, follow this guide:

but one question i wana ask from ages n no one is replyin about this ... that what is the difference between 2.71 n 1.5 firmware. Mean if stay on 2.71 n dont downgrade to 1.5 then what i cant do that i can in 1.5. plz help me out...
n secondly i got a game for example fifa 06 on UMD n i wana run it off memory stick without using UMD... tel me the procedure completely plzzzz

with 1.5 u can upgrade to to 2.71 SE-C (this is the FW that allows you to play without UMD so if u want to play without UMD and get your games to load from XMB you'll need 1.5 before you can get this)
2.71 u need to keep emulating to use homebrew. you need to emulate 1.5 to use homebrew, so why not get 1.5 instaead of emulating it?

you cant upgrade on 2.71 and u cant mod on 2.71 I.E gameboot, fonts, gameboots, sounds etc.

1.5 is the BEST end of.
2.71 is for ppl who cant downgrade like TA-082 and they too wish that they can get there psps to 1.5 so u can you should.

im currently having 2.6 for downgrading 1.5 which one is the safest way, should i upgrade it 2.71 frist n then downgrade or should i downgrade straight away... mean where the chances of bricking psp are low...

2.6 and 2.71 downgraders run the same risk so its up to you.

upgrade to 2.71 then use the ezy downgrader from there.
then after you've got 1.5 upgrade to 2.0 and then re downgrade to 1.5 using mph 2.0->1.5 downgrader
since that's what the Dev's of the downgrader recommend.

How many times? did u even read the guide i posted earlier? if you listen and try a little bit you'll be able to do this, if not then stick to buying your games.
how do u do it by using a card reader? you put the damn thing in the reader, let it read and just do it as normal. sheesh just use some brain power.

sorry didn mean to sound rude. im just saying i posted that guide 3 times adn you didn read it. that guide is the best guide you will get for downgrading any psp.

yes i used an torrent site and used utorrent to download it........once it has downloaded i jus put it in a folder called ISO then i go to my memory stick which when i click devhook loads up then i choose umd select then i choose the game but it goes black.......help plz
