I don't know if he answered your question, but you basically just have to have the program psp personalize from here http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-backgrounds.php. That website also tells you the step by step instructions.
Also one trouble I had when I did this was converting Jpeg to Bitmap. I easliy figured out the solution though. If it is anyother form other than Bitmap. All you have to do is right click the file, scroll down to Convert To... And there you go. All the conversions you need.
Edit: Also remember use at your own risk

true dat, but pspersonalize is for 1.50 who want to have custom backgrounds on their psp which 1.50 does not allow. Now that you have devhook.51 emulating 3.02 you dont need that.
He also mentioned themes which is not really backgrounds or wallpaper.
And also, you have to have the right size for the psp screen or your icons will screw causing a sort of brick, it cant be just any bitmap image. You can also find these at psp-hacks.com
you also need to rename the bitmaps. The colors you get every month can be replaced with a renamed bitmap like 12 for december 01 for january etc...

ok thanks for the help people, but i think i willl leave it, seems complicated and risky. I did put one theme on, but that was a theme some one made an it had a very good read me file. then i tried putting anuva theme on an it was different from the way the lad put in his read me

OK heres the deal i need step by step instuctions and links to get the software I need to get some themes for my PSP so if any one can help me im kinda a noob at this hacking shit
