Ok so I got myself one of those swap magic setups the other day. I hooked it up and I got an issue that needs some help. If I use a memorex 4x disc it will play the backup fine. But memorex 8x and 16x load super slow. The ps2 makes a reving sound like a car. When the game loads it skips a lot. The same happens if I use a fujifilm 8x disc. However, if I use those same discs on my friends ps2 with swap magic they will boot up properly. His ps2 is model number 70***** while mine is a little newer I believe. My model number is 75*****. They are both the slimline ps2's Does anyone have any answers? Should I just go find some more memorex 4x or could it be something else?

Also, when you boot up your swap magic, does your "Playstation 2" logo look grey with white lettering. I've seen this happen to my friends before and it happens to mine everytime. What's up with that?

If the PS2 logo is grey with white lettering, then it sounds as though that could be a PAL2NTSC or NTSC2PAL issue. ie: Trying to play a game from another region on your TV that doesn't support that region's signal, and it's actually displaying in black & white.

As for the non-booting issue, it's most likely the media. Using the best quality media will give you working backups all the time.
Get some RITEK G05, Sony or Verbatim 8x DVD-R.

Oh, and burn at 4x.

yes, memorex are just horrible
4X discs may work but are kind of slow so i suggest that
you use a good quality 8X DVD-R and burn them at 4X
If all the games you burned work fine on your friends system
then there is nothing wrong with the burner or the way that you
burned them (although memorex over time can really harm your laser)
So i would say the issue is more likely with your PS2
Possibly a dirty laser that needs cleaning
Or the mod you installed is not quite correct and is
causing problems when it tried to load the discs.
