Well, I am slightly new to the psp, i've been using it for home use so far (UMD games, movies, etc).
I have explored this site quite a bit, and theres a few things I need covered :), for those who can help, plz do.
I know there are some other threads out there, similar, but I prefer my own, for further questions answered :3.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have read some step-by-steps on obtaining an internet connection,
I have to understand it requires tiem :).
I know that you have to make a connection, scan for the WLAN settings, etc.
I understand that it only works for WEP security settings or something-rather, but how do I obtain this key?
and I want to do things on my PSP like download "Firmware", and some downgrading stuff, ISO'S, etc.
I'm not really sure what those are :), so if any1 can fill me in, plz do.
I downloaded firmware 1.5, becuz I heard it can do more stuff like downgrading and ISO ( w/e that is :3 ).
But I don't no how to use it, saved as onto desktop (zip. folder)
with something called EBoot in it or rather.
So, if any1 can just fill me..I'm hoping to surf the web+play games with others+download games for my psp =\.

The WEP is like the password for your wireless connection, thats something only you should know.

With firmwares you can access new content like themes and extra stuff that makes the psp cooler. And right now fw 1.50 is able to do just about anything, even emulate the new firmware 3.02.

If your psp is 1.50 then you are set, if not then you should consider downgrading, BUT only if you have 2.00 to 2.71 firmwares.

And also you should check if you have a TA motherboard which is a code that for some reason will brick your psp if you try to downgrade to 1.50.

ISOs are just game images that you can use to play games. You can get any game but you need a loader for it, and also you need to own the game or it becomes illegal. ISOs you can get off torrent sites, but i wont say where cause we're not allowed here at aD.

The eboot.pbp is basically an update file you put in your psp to update or emulate the firmware or downgrade as you said. Usually you have to put the eboot.pbp file in the root of your MS.

I didn't go in too deep but ask if you have anymore questions everyone at aDs here for ya ;D.

K..So I can retrieve my WEP easily, which should connect me right?
But I did try..and it said retrieving the ip adress has timed out, or something..*sigh*
So how do I get the eboot.pbp onto the root of my memory-stick?
So before I down-grade to 1.5 FW, i have to upgrade to 2.01-2.72 right?
But how do I do that :3?
Also, how do I check my motherboard?
What does the term "brick" my psp mean?
freeze it,crash it? break it o.O?
ISO'S = ROMS, but in a differant format/platform, correct?
But yeah, I have some emulators+roms on my -PC-,
but how do I obtain ISO'S onto my psp o.O?
not really asking for a site, just..how do I get them from my comp onto the psp, and then make them work?

Well, I checked my version, and my motherboard.
I looked at the only visible green on my UMD place, lol..no numbers o.O?
good..right :D.
My psp is version 2.60, so I have to get a FW to downgrade it from 2.5/2.6 down to 1.5, right :D.
Still puzzled on how get it onto my PSP :3.

ok. So you dont have a motherboard that is good. I would recommend upgrading to 2.71 first and then downgrading which is much much easier. To upgrade get the 2.71 update ebootpbp from the website i gave you then put it in the GAME folder of your psp, but wait, make a folder called UPDATE in your GAME folder thats where you put it.

Get out of the usb connection then update to 2.71.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/436960
here hexitnow saved me some explanation.

And with the ISOs to put them onto your psp, make a folder on the root of your MS called ISO and thats where you put them.

Brick means you screw up your psp and it is totally useless, but that rarely happens only to dumba$$s who never listen to instructions.

For the WEP to work you ahve to make sure your wireless router is set up and turned on.

feel free to ask anymore questions

to make folders just right click, go new, and then click on folder.

You can get the usb cable at your nearest electronic store.

Once you connect it and then connect it to your comp press usb connection on your psp then your set. You can your psp on one of the drives of you computer its usually labelled :f

no it does not load automatically you have to click on the update you have there.

you put the eboot.pbp in the UPDATE folder you make in the GAME section in your psp. Disconnect then go to the game menu on your psp and update.

what exactly are you doing right now? what are you updating to?

Upgrading up to 2.71 FW, then downgrading to 1.5, then getting devhook .46, or .51..then getting some Iso's for some of the few games I own...Just having a problem with my USB ports, they don't seem to be working =\..
And I don't have to mobo driver disc for it..And I don't know how to check my mobo, to get a specific title, to search for the driver on the net...>.<

usb ports dont work? well you'll have to go to someone elses comp to put the stuff on your psp cause my knowledge with usb ports is sh!t . The directions to downgrade and upgrade are listed up there

EDIT: if you have any questions with devhook then you have to search on your own since mods are closing any threads with devhook problems in them.

I dont think you can, since umds are region coded accordingly to the region

check here http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2005Jan/bga20050126028850.htm

UMD Movies ARE region encoded. However games are not. So you can't play any movies on your psp unless theyre from region 3. Or you can get devhook and emulate a new firmware with the region of movies you're wanting to watch.
