You need to look side by side - most of the reason to get next gen is for the HD ... chill man & Merry Christmas

I have a 42" Olevia LCD ... I have LCD because, first of all, it was a work bonus (SWEET!) ... Secondly, I live in Aspen, CO and with high altitude, most plasma's don't work with the altitude due to the compressed gasses used in the screen, the altitude messes with the gas and causes weird images & noises, and thirdly, the LCD isn't suseptable (sp?) to burn-in like a plasma or DLP is. My TV doesn't support 1080p, but thats ok - I didn't have to pay for it!

When I had accidentally flipped the switch on the HD cable for the 360 to standard TV, the graphics were horrible, you could see lines around anything that wasn't a perfectly straight line, it looked closer to a PS2 for the graphics. I put it back to HD with 1080i, and it was an AMAZING difference in clarity and quality. There is a huge difference, esp. if you see it side by side with the same image.

First of all, regaridng GRAW, you need a gold account to play online.

Secondly, when you look for a new one, remember that plasmas & DLP projection TV's are suseptable to burn-in ... you don't want that. Plasma is also much newer than LCD, so who knows how long it'll last whereas LCD has been tried & tested and we know what to expect from it - it'll work for quite a long time.

Just make sure you do some reviews on whatever TV you want BEFORE you buy it ... if it doesn't support 1080p, it isn't the end of the world and it'll probably be a bit cheaper, but you definitely want one that supports 1080p for the new HD-DVD's or Blu Ray - whichever eventually takes over the market.

ENJOY!!!

I just flipped the switch to TV and fired GoW (after gawking at the blurry dashboard). My god the gfx were horrible. Jag lines, blurry textures, unimpressive models and surroundings...eww...i just turned the damn thing off and switch it back to HDTV.

they don't usually give you 12 months free ... but you usually get 1 month free when you make a silver account. You can get the gold membership for under $50 with an extra headset, free game and some MS points if you get it off of ebay

Have to agree that Hi-Def is miles better. Didn't appreciate the difference until I took my 360 over to my parents for the christmas period and wired it up to their 28" standard 4x3 TV. My eyes aren't 20-20 but I only wear glasses in work and never bother bringing them home. On games like viva pinata and dead rising where you have to read the text on the screen I can't read it on a normal TV, whereas it is so pinpoint clear in hi-def that the problem had never entered my head before.

Before I got my 42" LCD HDTV, I was using a 60" standard def projection tv - an OLD projection tk, like 6 or 7 years old ... I couldn't read any text in perfect dark zero ... now its like reading a magazine its SO clear ... you have to see it side by side, or at least with something you know to see the difference, but YES ... there's a HUGE difference

I would like to add that HDTV is not on your t.v., it is IN your t.v.. A set capable of displaying HDTV signals is completely different than a SDTV set. It depends on much more than just the input connections. There are CRT based sets with component inputs that are unable to display a signal higher than 480p. The xbox 360 output resolution will depend on the specific game. All games can will run in 720p or 1080i. If you are usind a SD set the signal will be scaled down to the resolution of the set. There should be a significant difference between 480p and a HD signal. Of course, this depends on your display, how far away you sit, how large the set it, and personal preference.
