But if you are still using swap magic it is not really a mod chip at all. It is an eject mod. So the PS2 doesn't reset when you open it.
Seeing that it is a mod that deals with the resetting of the machine,
and you are having problems with the reset button, i can only assume that something about that chip is causing it.

I would tend to agree with the above. Get a good mod chip and
throw that Swap Magic and reset mod in the trash can.
