Hey guys,
Getting a new slimline Silver PS2 for Christmas. I have a question about modding it tho, as I want to be able to play my backups on it, as sadly my old PS2 has died.
Okay, so I have to choose how to mod it.
Is the best option the Tape and Tissue mod, but that would mean voiding the warranty on practically the first day.
Or should I purchase a Replacement Lid or Magic Keys. Please note however I live in the UK and would prefer to buy it from over here! I already have Swap Magic 3.6.
Thanks guys, and have a Merry Christmas!

I think even with the replacement lid you have to brake the warranty. The magic keys are good but they dont always stay where you want them to. So if you looking to use SM disks forever then i would go with the replacement lid.

neither.
Tape and tissue mod with Swap Magic is just the cheaspest
way out.
The fliptop and Swap Magic is better, but many people still have problems.
The Magic Keys and Swap Magic is the best, cheap way, to mod the PS2, but read enough posts and you will see problems with those too.
I am not going to go into all the reasons why you should get a good mod chip and have a professional install it. I will let you research that one.
Spend some extra money now and save money on aspirin from all the headaches the first 3 options will give you.

Dont buy the magic keys jin666 do the tape and tissue mod I did it in about three minutes and ive been using it for 1 year now.
Its cheap and cant damage your ps2 no matter what because you're taping the sensors down.
The magic keys bend and dont stay in place and the new top is crap and flimsy

Yes, but I only got the PS2 TODAY and to perform the Tape and Tissue mod means voiding the warranty already.. and if something goes wrong i have absolutely no backup..!

Hi jin666
me too i got the new slimline Silver PS2 and i use swap magic 3.8 coder!
I use doc Tape and tissue mod at first but after a week played, the doc tape glue stopped to keep the switch on, I mean the switch inside the ps two.
To bad because the top closed much natural
But it's better to use magic key believe me!
The only problem for me it's the back up game like scarface or double agent that i never get succes ;o(
I thing Modchip is much better.
i hope my english is enough comprehensive for you
help each other is very important.

Yeah, i can make you out good enough, thanks for replying.
Are you not able to run Scarface at all? I had it on my old Fat PS2 (with Flip Top Lid) and it would freeze after every mission!
Thanks

i think they have started 2 patch latest ps2 games
remeber swap magic and datel ( action replay ) are not endorsed with sony so why would they allow their games to be played with thier systems ie swap magic.

hi jin666
Right after i did my back up of scarface with DVD Decrypter i play and the prologue start but the game never start ;o(
I am sure we have to use Alcohol 120% + search wich protection is on this game through internet search engine and set up up alcohol with the protection you have found + run any dvd too! and i am sure the back up will work well right after that!
ps: some game over 4.37 gig need to be shrink with Ggenie dont forget that.
If you get succes with this game answer me or make threat pls ;o)
a bientot
Joe

there is another way to block the sensor free without voiding the warranty. i wanted a way to block the sensors without voiding the warranty, and i saw the tape and tissue mod was the cheapest, but it , of course involved the opening of your ps2, so I said, "Screw it!" and and tried to block the sensor another way with similar methods. i used a tissue for the front sensor, a q-tip for the other right side sensor, and for the internal one, i stuck one of those grocery bag bendy things through the hole, (which i have no metal plate, but you can get rid of the plate yourself). Sure, you often have to adjust the back one, and never close the lid, but it works, and you can use a movable substitute for the lid, like a disk cover, or somethin.
I'm glad I'm Notyu
