I have flashed several Hitachi drives with no problems, but I cant find any support on flashing a MS25 with the new Extreme 5. There are talks about a 0800 enable disk and mtkflash files but there are none of those in the download I have for the ver. 5 There are files like x360sam and xtreme50.bin and make x50.bin report as HT59 and such nothing that I have seen in any of the forums refer to any of these files. I also would like to use a usb to boot from if that is possible, any help would be great.

the 0800.iso you will find in earlier releases of the xtreme firmware (4 onwards i think). & mtkflash is a general pc program, just google mtkflash.zip and you should find it easy.
If the Samsung drive is still in original state then you will not need the 0800 disk as this just disables firmgaurd on the newer versions of xtreme and allows you to reflash the drive.

Thanks guys, the drive is fresh never been flashed, what about the files I listed there is an X360SAM app, Make X50b.bin Report as MS25 Dos Program, and a 50a-ms25.bin file, these are the ones that would pertain to me since the are for MS25
So basically I do something with org.bin and mtkflash and dont worry about any 0800 stuff I read since it is a new flash, also did anybody have any words about USB booting

i use floppy's...but yeah, you have to extract the fw u have in original drive first...then u rename it to ORIG.BIN....then u pu it in the same folder as the other files...
then click make x50a
thats the one...not the ms25 one....it configures itself so u dont have to...
a is the best one...i wouldnt suggest b

This is what I have done so far, I made a bootdisk with the mtk files on it and ran it inputing mtkflash r /m org.bin and it made my org.bin file in my A drive. I copied it into the folder with all the other xtreme 5.0 files in it and clicked on the make 5.0a MSDOS program icon. The dos screen popped up and off in a split second and that is it I have not tried to flash it back cause I dont think it worked

The dos window will only be there for a second, thats ok. After it closes you should see another bin file appear which will be called X50A and that will be your new firmware to flash on your drive.

I do see a xtrem50a bin file but it is not new it was there before I clicked on the MSDOS Program ICON make X50a, so is that still the one I need to put onto the floppy or did it not work right. There were no new files added and none of the original files were affected by the MSDOS Program as far as the modification date goes. I think I am very close to getting this done so any help getting me over this last hump would be great as XMAS is tomorrow and my friend wants his unit back for his kid.

If you still have the files on your pc do you have both the xtrem50a bin file and your 50a file or just one that might help me narrow this down and if you only have one is the modification date changed at all

Ok I have been unable to make a x50a or even a x42a (after just downloading the 4.2u group) to popup at all. this should not be this hard, from my understanding it is just a click on the icon and that s it. I do have all the files in the same folder and the original one is labeled ORG.BIN if that matters. I can understand if maybe one release does not match but for both of them to is very weird. Is there any other way to make the right file to flash with I have seen some talks of a hex key editor or something of that nature any words for that since this is not working. The LG was way easier than this.

Not sure if that was a typo (org.bin) but mine are saved as orig.bin. See if that makes a difference.
Just had a thought, you have unrared the files havent you?
and you can make the file another way, you will need a hex editor program. I used a free trial of something, just gogle hex editor.
You will then open up the hex editor and load your original bin file,, then if you press control G and type in 4000 that wioll take you to where you need. Highlight everything from 4000 to 4200 and copy it.
Then load up the xtreme bin that you want to use and again press control G and go to 4000. Yet again highlight 4000 to 4200 and paste in the original firmware's numbers. Once you save that you will have an xtreme bin file with the right code ready to flash to the drive.
Save it, close it and then put that file on to the floppy / USb with mtkflash.
Then all i had to do was boot up pc with the disk, once it gets to dos I turned on my xbox (which was connected to my onboard sata port with no other drives connected) I then typed mtkflash w X50A (change this to your firmware name). Once I chose my sata port it started the process and a few minutes later it was finished.
I hope this helps you dude

My key does not go to 4000 it stops at 3fff0, so obviously I am having a problem with getting the key. I have done what you said to do by unplugging everything and running the mtkflash and it runs and I get a bin file but there is nothing after the 3fff0. So ???

I am using my onboard sata which is not the same one as I used for the Hitachis, for the Hitachis I used the PCI card from New Egg. I installed the PCI card and I plugged the 360 into that one and I get a NO DISK FOUND message. is there something wrong with my card or something I need to do since my new PC has onboard sata so that it will recognize the PCI card. I installed the drivers for it already. Could this be why I am not getting the proper key, wrong chipset onboard and PCI card not being picked up

your key doesnt go up to 4000? this is weird, i use an Asus motherboard with onboard sata connectors which works fine for me.
Have you managed to extract your orig firmware? if you load that into the hex editor it must go up to 4000, i have donme 4 now and never have trouble with this part.
Have you downloaded the new 5.1 firmware? this has a new bat file which makes it even easier to get your xtreme bin file. It does everything for you in command prompt so all you have to do is pick what version you want, A B C or D.

No I have not done the new 5.1 but I still am having trouble just getting the key off. It stops at 3fff0 or something, which leads me to believe that there is a problem with my sata. I tried to instal the PCI card that I used on the Hitachis and nothing is detected plugged into that card and plugged into the MOBO it stops short (runs completly but nothing after 3fff0)
