Some times when I get a game and save it as a cso it will show the graphics in the main menu then when I go to start the game it runs the usual psp white screen and after a while the psp shuts down?

any ideas why this might be?

GTA lags pretty bad when compressed. Had problems running Syphon Filter with compression as well

I've had similar results running Devhook .51 emulating FW 3.01 on my PSP 1.5.

Burnout legends works, and so does ridge racer but i could play those with just fastloader 7, or UMDemulator 8. I've tried metal gear acid 2, Worms open warfare and i think something else with no luck. Always freezes on the white/grey PSP screen.

Any suggestions?

DevHook .51 isn't really stable, never made it out of beta status, get FW 3.02 OE (the special FW), that should do it.

Thnx BlkMagic1. Sorry for that. I should have checked that out on my own.

BTW, (in your obvious PSP wisdom) with my 1.5 FW, which is the best all around solution for playing .iso's, new and old?

I realize there are several options for pulling this off. I've been using Fastloader & UMDemulator with pretty good results, and I'm not looking for a tutorial. I would just like some frank advice from someone who knows more about this than i do.

well i personally used to like fastloader when it was the one thing out there but now devhook seems to be better so i stay with that

Alright. That sounds gr8. A million thanks.

Just acouple more q's for you if you'll allow me to pick your brain a bit more.

Now, will Fastloader backup ANY UMD (and allow me to play the backups, obviously) or just old ones?

Also, if i get an .iso or .cso that seems to not function properly or at all, is there a way to repair the file using UMDGen v4.00 or similar app.?

I use fastloader too, to make .isos of games. Won't emulate anything new or even the files I dumped with it but the dumps work fine with DevHook 0.51 or the new 3.02 OE (OE=Open Edition) FW.
If you have a game that doesn't work as .cso get PSP Iso Compressor and decrompress the game back into an .iso. Should work sometimes, but not with all games. If the file is just broken delete it and download another version.
