I did that I guess I'm different f1 didn't work for me. Any other command or button I should press? I tried to flash my MS28 drive but nothing. I used Xtreme boot maker with 5.0a FW, checked both badflash and the patch. I turned on the pc, then the 360, and typed in "mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin" now I'm using an onboard sata do I need to add "/sata" in the command or should I use "mtkflash r /m orig.bin. It displaced the following:
1. ICH6P Pri Master
2. ICH6P Pri Slave
3. Xtreme Pri Master
4. Xtreme Pri Slave

after selecting "1" it says:
Port: 1f0, Master/Slave: a0

at this point I turned off my 360, counted to 10 and turned it back on. NOTHING.... It didn't read or write anything. I also used the "samread ******* *****" command and same thing. I've tried all 4 sata commands. used both mtkflash and samread but nothing...

Also for a bit more info I looked inside my PC and saw 2 chipsets saysing VIA VT6421L so... wich am I actually using? ICH6P or VT6421L? When I go under boot maker only 1 Sata connection works, the other two just say Primary IDe and Secondary IDE.

Please if anyone could help me out with this one You'd be god to me.

PS - I've used both "mtkflash r /m orig.bin" and "mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin" and nothing... I tested my 360 after this and it still works :D thankfully nothing broke.

OK I used 3 instead of 1 but nothing, I used these commands and got absolutley no where:

1. mtkflash r /m orig.bin
2. mtkflash r /m sata orig.bin
3. samread ******* *****

Now the 2 things could be maybe I need a pci SATA card OR my sata is set to RAID and not Native/IDE? :S Please I'm begging anyone that can help me change my SATA settings as I don't know where to even begin. I checked under hardware and found the SATA controller but nothing to do with setting RAID or Native/IDE? PLEASE HELP THIS LOST NEWB!

P.S. it stops at
"Port: e400 Master/Slave, a0"
I'm working with a MS28 Drive if that helps :S

I was having the same exact problem.....
How did I fix it?

First, start over. Use Xtreme boot maker again and format the floppy
drive again. Go slow, make sure everything is right.

When you are ready (with 360 OFF) reboot to Floppy
When you get to the prompt > (to type stuff)
THEN turn on the 360

Type the mtkflash r /m orig.bin command
and you will get this:

1. ICH6P Pri Master
2. ICH6P Pri Slave
3. Xtreme Pri Master
4. Xtreme Pri Slave

Try 3 first.
If it fails, turn off pc, turn off 360 and try again, do not turn on 360 until you get to the prompt >

Then try 4
One of them should work.

As a strange(?) side note, when I got to actualy work, it still gave me the weird errors you wrote about (Port: 1f0, Master/Slave: a0 )

but just for about 2 seconds, and then it took off.......after that
smooth sailing.

And For what it is worth, your sata stuff is fine, leave it alone.
If bootmaker auto detects one of your sata "ports" use that one, and you should get some numbers (in bootmaker) right under that.

Keep going, you're almost there.

No prob. Let us know what you come up with.

PS, something that pissed me off was the "samread xxxxxxx xxxxx"

NO WHERE, IN ANY FREAKIN READ ME or TEXT FILE DID IT PLAINLY STAIGHT:

"the xxxxxx xxxxx" is your serial # located on the back of your 360"

I SPENT HOURS READING TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE XXXXXXX XXXXX
meant.

I had no clue, and as mentioned not one readme bothered to inform the reader what XXXXXXX XXXXXX was.

It kills me the people who write these programs, hacks, cracks, etc.
They are indeed extremely smart people, and deserve all the props in the world.
However, they should let someone else write the readme's for them.
IMHO you should always write, AND RE-WRITE, a readme as if a reader was a blonde female who had never even heard of a computer, much less how to use one.

Then, IMHO, you wouldn't have 200,000 people asking the SAME DA.. questions over and over and over again.
But noooooooooooooo where is the fun in that? People will continue to write readme's as if the reader is just supposed to magicaly "know" all this stuff.

( steps downs slowly off his soapbox looking carefully over his shoulders)

Merry Christmas everybody

True that It took me a while to figure out samread XXXXXXX XXXXX meant but I guess its outdated thats why no one bothers... I just saw it on a youtube video and tried it out too. Anyways it failed. I used all 4 settings each one with all 3 commands and nothing... It always freezes after that PORT message... either xtreme boot maker isnt doing it right ( doubt it though ) or its my sata connection. SO if your sata connectors are on RAID that cant be detected rite? Because as I stated before I do hav VIA VT6421L chipsets on my motherboard and when I use xtreme boot maker there is another Bus conntroller that MTK isnt compatible with maybe because its set to RAID and not NATIVE?

The whole SATA/IDE thing is basicaly this:
in bios, just make sure you are not using "RAID"

I had similar concerns but left mine just set to "SATA"
Not SATA+Pata, SATA+IDE (or whatever)
Just SATA
plain and simple.

Once you get passed that part.......try this

Google search: (your chipset+Extreme boot maker)

perhaps there is an issue there.

PS, I doubt that though since it detects (and I assume gives you numbers) at least one compatible port.

PSS, mine did the same thing. I have 2 sata ports. ICH5's
The primary would give errors
The second channel worked and Bootmaker auto detected everything

I think I know why it gives an error on the first one.....simply....
It's your hard drive. (I assume you are using a SATA HD?)

That channel is already in use. Kind of like trying to delete a file windows is using....it gives you an error.

Keep reading, keep trying, don't give up.....OH, OH, OH.....
WAIT<,,,,,,,

You said you are using FW 5.0? Right?

I know you (and everyone) wants the "latest and greatest" but when bootmaker told me that 5.0 may not be compatible, it scared me off.

PLUS, I have read more than a few posts of people who are not happy with ver 5.0. SOOOO I used my bootmaker with the previous FW

I cannot for the life of me remember.......Yes I do....4.2a/4.2b

That's what I used. A reach I know, but you never know.

Look at it this way, try making another boot floppy with 4.2 and if it works, you can always go up to 5.0 easy.

The hard part is getting that first drive flashed. After that, it's like doing algebra. Still not fun, but gets easier. LOL

I tried making a new boot floppy with 4.2a FW didnt work... At this point im about to stomp my 360 and pc .... Only thing left to do is test this on another pc. Perhaps one of my friends. Also I was wondering with this ms28 drive everyone seems to be using VIA cards instead of onboard chipsets... HMMM maybe but then I'm ging to need to buy a compatible dvd drive wiht it too... I think if my friends computer fails I'm just going to hav to live with the fact of buying games.... Anywhos maybe I might give hex editing a shot. I looked into my boot disk and theres things that dont need to be there. U only need mtkflash.eve, mtkflash.typ, x360sam, and the FW rite? I hav all th ese other files maybe I shouold delete them?

Wait a minute, are you trying to flash a MS28 with a non via chipset. If so, you have just wasted your time completely.MS28 CAN ONLY BE FLASHED WITH A VIA CHIPSET.

............................ WOW R you forreal mate? So I have to buy the pci card now? Ok fine wow I thought My pc was just retarded it turns out I am instead. OK! So I'll go order the card, but I read you need a dvd drive compatible to it? Which is a good one and why do you need a dvd drive compatible to it?

PS what if you have a VIA VT 6421L chipset on your motherbaord? Wont it work....?

I think that chipset is PCI only, so you would need to go out and buy a PCI card with a VIA chipset.
