I want to rip a short film from a DVD and then be able to edit it. I have managed to rip it using DVDDecrypter (very nice) but now, I want to edit it in a format that VEGAS Video (for example) likes. I'd also like to preserve the Video and Audio quality if possible. Thanks - Fred

I'm not familiar with Vegas video, but TMPGEnc DVD Author will accept a VOB file as input, and will then allow you to edit it to remove certain parts while losing no quality.
A guide for TMPGEnc DVD Author is available at: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/tmpgenc_dvd_author.htm

Would that solve your problem?

A million thank you's. That TMPGEnc app is fantastic! It rips and renders an MPEG in one simple step. I just found this site/forum today... It's great. Thanks Again Yuriv! - Fred Maher

If you had of gone with Sonic Foundry's DVD Architect instead of Vegas 4.0 it would've accepted VOB format.

Just mentioning that fact : )

TMPGEnc is good though...happy rendering

Ahh, that's good to know. However, I need to cut the content to ribbons.

Can you put the output of TMPGEnc into Vegas 4.0 ok for doing that?

YES! TMPGEnc, when you "save to HDD" creates an MPEG clip that is recognized by video editing applications.

Thats great. I've heard some very good things about Vegas 4.0 but had associated it more with creating video from VHS and other sources rather than DVD.
