My sons recently bought 360 has the toshiba drive and this has the firmware modded in order to play back ups etc. This is a PAL model manufactured july 2006
We only bought the console on the 27th Nov, and it was modded a week or so ago, it seemed to work fine when my brother and i tested it, and my son had it as a present for xmas.
After a few plays it started to freeze, then when we tried to restart it we got the dreaded 3 red leds consistently..i have disconnected all the cables etc, plugged direct int ot he wall, but all to no avail. We were prompted to apply an update off need for speed carbon at one point and even though some good people on here said to update it, we never got round to it because of this problem. It has yet to be connected to xbox live and it has been well ventilated etc. The error code is 0021
Can some of you guys please advise on the best course of action as we bought it from a gamestation store, and i was hoping for the best course of action re the firmware etc. CAn it be applied again? Is it a firmware related issue?
Advice would be greatly appreciated as he is gutted and so is my wallet
call xbox and ask what that code means. but don't accept, generic hardware failure as an answer.
EDIT> since u flashed the firmware to the dvd drive, then if u remove it and flash the original firmware back, u can do that....but otherwise i dunno what to tell ya.

0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard
I would say, seen as you have flashed the firmware, it has nothing to do with the southbridge, its your dvd drive. Maybe a bad flash, or a bad firmware I dunno. Best thing to do is to flash your orig.bin back on there, see if it works ok. Get a good working tested copy of the xtreme firmware and flash that over your orig.bin
