firmware is the version of your psp, the newer the firmware then newer the updates.

the best firmware to get is 1.5 (which i have)

as for downgrading it is a long process but can easily be found on google.

you first need to know the firmware of your psp

its somewhere on settings (i dont have my psp on me)
