Verbatim DVD+R DL Problems

I have a NEC 3500 burner and I am using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs from Officemax. I have used these discs before for movie backups and they have worked fine. I know 360 games are probably different. Out of 7 discs, I have only got 2 that have finished burning. I have tried using CloneCD, ImgBurn and the DVD Decrypter method. I usually either get about 90% completing before failure and the only method that I have had work is DVD Decrypter. I have used the .dvd file and I made sure the booktype was set to DVD-ROM and I also made sure the layer break was set correctly. It is probably a burner issue and I have already ordered the Pioneer 111D. Is this why I am getting coasters?

Yes most likely, see if there is a updated firmware for your drive. Also
nec drives dont do well with 360 games and the hitachi drive and especially with office max media.

Thanks for the response. I usually order my media from supermediastore but the Verbatim discs won't be here until next Tuesday and I was just trying them out. I think officemax just sells name brand discs that are manufactured by cheap companies. Everything I get from supermediastore has always been great. The weird thing is that the two discs I have been able to make have worked on my 360.

ive been using verbatim DVD+R DL too. i use dvd decyrpter to burn my 360 games. for me tho i burn with booktype:dvd+r dl. and it still works.

What model of burner do you have? I think my problem is either the officemax brand of Verbatim DVD+R DL media or my NEC 3500. That's why I just went ahead and ordered the 111D.
