does the cd download available at xbox.com for backward compatability do anything to the firmware update used for playing backups.or is there an easier way to play xbox games on a 360 that has firmware altered.

No you still need to do the backward download, that is the only way to get the drive to read the original XBOX games. It actually installs an emulator onto your HDD, it does nothing to your firmware

hi, just got my son an xbox 360 extreme. If I download the backward file from xbox.com will this have any effect on the extreme flash? I don't want to damage the firmware as he only got the xbox360 today!

is there any problem with the difference in files i find with the 360 games theres the image file and a dvd file where the normal xbox game has only a image file is this ok or do you have to create a dvd file.

tried burning the iso to a dual layer disc using cd clone still nothing.

If you're using any other firmware other that xtreme 5.0 or 5.1 then you need to make your xbox 1 backup from and original game disc using the same method as you would when making a 360 game backup.

It will need to be on a dl disc and you will need the .dvd file if you're not manually setting the layer break.
