I dont have a PSP or anything but I have been following "the scene". And I thought that those TA-082's or whatever they are non-downgradable? So is this some 1.5 firmware emulation trick? Or is this an actual downgrader?

touran22 is the man! Thanks for putting a guide together that makes this easy to do! I just downgraded to 1.5. I was nervous because I bricked a 2.80 yesterday and had to take it back. However, there is one thing I would add to the guide: When I finished flashing mine and rebooted. I heard the music like the psp was starting, but I couldn't see anything, for some reason my backlight had dimmed all the way, so I just had to adjust the backlight and it was good. After bricking my first psp that I got yesterday, that had me sweating bullets.

Anyone know of any straight forward guides like this one to get started using this new v1.5 firmware? So I can emulate the newer firmware without actually loading them?

Thanks again,

I have a ta-082 so I'm not sure of the ramifications of owning a TA-081
I got my value pack switched for a base kit since then. Dont worry about my question, i found the answer out out on my own. I made a mistake in what I said by mixing up my firmwares when i was typing. And since i got it switched i read through the guide on this forum thoroughly and have clearly identified it as TA-082 from the markings of ic1003 on the left, and it actually came with 2.71 since i checked in the system info aswell.

[EDIT] Just a question, is it very difficult to update to 3.02OE (or whatever its called), and where can i find a good guide for it?

I had a TA-082 2.71, followed those steps and everything is good. I successfully made it to 3.02 OE-B. Here's how:

With 100% Battery and the charger connected! MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING!

Step 1: Follow touran22's guide to get from 2.71 to 1.5.
Note: After flashing to 1.5 you may need to adjust your backlight, mine was all the way down and I thought I ruined my psp.

Step 2: Format MemStick then download and install Chaos Zero's 3.02 OE-A installer found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about58369.html

If you are unsure of how to do this, then read the the readme.txt file included, it's really easy.

(I chose to install the optional recovery option as well, however I did so after the main install)

Step 3:Download and install the 3.02 OE-B upgrade from here:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Dark-AleX-s-3-0...pg/49/aid/77278

Once again, if you are unsure of how to do this, then read the the readme.txt file included, it's really easy.

Hope this helps some of you.

Thanks again,

Well, you must not know how to read, that's what this whole thread is about. I have a ta082 running 3.02 OE-B, it's possible. If you don't believe me, ask jeeves or google.

That doesn't answer my question. I specifically ask. Does this method actually downgrade a psp OR does it use HEND/C (whichever versions current) to emulate a firmware?

No you must not know how to read, I clearly state that I don't have a PSP but have been reading on the current news about downgraders and Dark Alexs custom firmware. I never did say that I knew all that was going on I just stated I had basic knowledge. So with a simple yes/no answer, can you answer can this truly downgrade a TA-082 motherboard? yes or no? And please this time no smartass remarks.

hey touran, I just got my psp not too long ago. I was reading up on this thread and I tried using the easy installer. Apparently it isn't so easy for a noob like myself. =( I went and extracted the files to a folder on my desktop(is this where to put them, wasn't specified in guide) Then I tried and installing to my ms to only get a bunch of files and folders scattered around my ms (guide doesn't say where to install to). Maybe this is a common sense type of thing, but like I said I just got my psp, and I couldn't seem to get anywhere from this guide. If you could shoot me a pm or something that would be awsome. Thanks dude.

hey dude, yeah, when you install the files to the memory stick, you do it to the root, so there should be folders and files scattered about. as for the files extracted, it can be extracted any where on your comp, as long as you remember where it went xD hope that helps a bit

Ok, I noticed 2 folders inside the mp_root folder. I just installed to the regular mp_root folder. Then I proceeded onto step 5 and tried to locate Hen-d under photos on my xmb. There doesn't seem to be anything under phots though. Maybe this just isn't meant to be :-/
