Bought one already flashed. Now I would like to undate the firmware. Mine is a m25. I heard that if I get the original firmware from another m25 I can take that key and put it into mine via hex editing.
Here's my problem: How do I go about hex editing the original into my hacked firmware?
thanks

to update your firmware, all you need is to use mtkflash.exe -r to read your current orig.bin firmware from your xbox 360 dvd rom. then you can use this orig.bin and to create your new Xtrem.bin file. This orig.bin will contain your original key. Read the readme file in the firmware package and it will show you how to achieve this.

cheers

Well im in the same situation as you are,but i heard that we've have already original key in moded firmware. So just use mtkflash and get that moded firmware key and think its our original firmware and get the key from hex editing then name it org.bin.Then again inject the key in xtreme 5.x.bin with hex editing or any new software out there which will make automatically make xtreme.bin.
If i am wrong then somebody please correct me.Thanks

Let me see if I got it. First, to let you know, I use the floppy disc method to flash and xtreme bootmaker. Alright here goes; The xtreme firmware in the xbox360 includes the original bin so when I do SAMREAD the original key along with the xtreme firmware will be put onto the floppy disc. I then open up the floppy disc and rename the bin to original. Then use xtreme 5.x and make new bin.

Guys,

just follow my instructions in my previous response.

your xbox 360 dvd rom key is in the moded firmware that is current loaded on your dvd rom.

now if you do a "mtkflash r orig.bin" (boot up in a floppy disc ofcourse)

your dvd key will be there, now just use the bat file that is included with the package to create the update bin file which will include your key!

You do not have to use any hex editor, in the xtreme update package the is a batch file that will merge the orig.bin to the new bin file for you to use to flash your dvd rom.

Remember you will have to burn the 0800 file to a verbatim DVD+R DL and set your dvd booktype to ROM. You need this to update from a previous xtreme firmware to the latest.

There are sticky notes here in the forum, so read them!

cheers

Modester i've got one question about 0800 mode.I know this is necessary for update the newer firmwares, but how do we know that which moded firmware is allready in our drives.I heard that this trick is necesarry for 4.xx or upwards modified firmwares, what about those firmwares who got the below versions of modified firmwares? Is there anyway to know which modified firmware is installed in our drive?

@ addflash, sorry but I don't know if there is a way to determine what firmware is loaded on your dvd rom. Maybe if I have time I can see if there is anyway to determine the version of xtreme firmware on dvd.

But if you are flashing your xbox dvd rom for the first time, you will not need this 0800 disc.

for example: if I was going to flash my xbxo dvd rom for the first time (with no xtreme firmware loaded), I would not use the 0800.

After you have flash xtreme firmware (for any version) it locks the firmware on dvd rom. it's kinda like a write protection.

So, if you don't use the 0800, the sata communication will not be able to write the new/modified firmware to the dvd and you would get a Master/Slave error message.

You would use this 0800 for applying newer firmware or to downgrade your current firmware to an older one.

Summary: if you have xtreme firmware applied to your xbox360 dvd rom, then yes you would need to use 0800.

hopes this help.

cheers
