PS2 Disc is hitting laser and games freeze up.

I have a problem where my Ps2 will freeze up particulary when I am trying to play Madden but other games also. I tried to re align my laser but this did not work so I put it back in the same position. I have come to the conclusion that when the laser gets to the outer edges of a game is starts to hit the disk and then the game freezes and will not play anymore. Also other games like Blitz take forever to load at certain screens. Any help would be great thanks.

IS IT A SLIM?
Mine is a slim & started hitting ayear after purchase. then laser busted soon after i replaced it and now the Second one started hitting as well! SEARCH FOR NEOFIX ON GOOGLE.

The problem with Blitz, I think is simply with the game, since my Blitz also takes forever to load, especially after I beat a game! As for the other stuff, I do not know lol
