ok i wana know how to change the name of the icons on the psp when u start it. like i wana change photos to picutre and games to homebrew. anyone know how to do it?

I believe that xflash for 3.03oe will do it, but it comes with preset labels. To use your own labels, you need to know how to hex edit

if we're wanting to make our own icons, should it be in photoshop?
and also, why does everyone make the background of the icon black, and when it shows up in the xmb, there is no background? just wondering, then, should the background be black? or does it not matter?

hey kayamod ur sig is tooooo big... lol
uhm how can i change the whole text of my xmb... all of it.. or at least some u know... then to create the picz do i need to use black background or even green... some custom xmb icons i got have it in green and do not appear on the back on psp... just trying to know

yeah you should be able to, just use a hex editor
as for the icons, i dont know about using a green background, i've always used black!!

Hi everyone!!
I am new to these firmware changes and stuff. I have recently updated my psp to firmware 3.03 OE B. I am not sure if it the one that was made by Dark Alex, but i have a hunch that it is. I used and easy downgrader.
Well the thing is this: I am trying to enter the flash0 on my psp. (Because I want to see if i can modify the xmb on the psp), I already have the rco files like that ready. But they tell me to go to recovery mode and paste them in flash0, etc. Once in Recovery Mode. I Connect the PSP to the PC with the USB cable. Selected the advanced option, then i am supposed to select the USB flash0 option.
But i do not see that on the recovery mode menu. When i go to advanced> i get:

*Flash pspbtcnf_game.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_updater.txt (3.03)
*Flash pspbtcnf_pops.txt (3.03)

*Flash systemctrl.prx (3.03)
*Flash systemctrl.prx (1.50)
I have like no idea what to do from there because I am afraid to brick it if i modify any of those flash files without having the proper knowledge in it.
Now, I was doing a little wiki searching, and I managed to see that apparently flash0 cannot be accessed in firmwares 3.03, but I think it' talking about non OE firmwares, and that's where it just gets confusing. Here's the wiki link in case anyone wants to read it:

If anyone could help me with accesing Flash0 on my 3.03 OE B firmware, I would appreciate it so much.

upgrade to 3.03 oe-c first, why are you in b when you have the option of c as well

I wouldn;t have any problems upgrading to 3.03 OE C if i knew that would fix it. :P
I mean, i'm not too much of a fan of changing flash memories and upgrading and things like that, but if that's what it takes to accomplish something, so be it, i go ahead and do it. You think upgrading to 3.03 OE C will help me find the flash zero? Thanks.

ok so I am trying to install SVC on my 3.40 OE psp and I'm running the install.exe file. My PSP is set to USB mode and when I run the exe it says my PSP doesn have DevHook?? wtf? im pretty sure that since i'm running 3.40 I have dh, right?
any idea why it would tell me that??

ugh, so I figured out that the memory card in the psp didnt have its dh folder for some reason (i may have formatted that card while still in 1.5) so I switched it out with one that had the 3.40 dh folder in it. ran the install file on the pc and it said the installation was a success.
I went into the recovery menu on the PSP and into Plugins but none were listed.
what now?
