DVD Drive Firmware Falshing - Is it worht it?

I am considering getting this done. I found a guy who will do it for $75 including tutorials and stuff. Anyway, I want to know the pros and cons of this method. What are my alternatives? Does anyone know if this is something that is only going to work for current games and not games that will come out of the future? Do I have to keep updating the firmware (and therefore have to keep repeating the process)? Any info would help. Thanks!

is this something that will work long term? i'm under the impression that it constantly has to be flashed with the new firmware and it eventually would not work for newer games. that is why i'm considering waiting for a mod chip. any thoughts?

yes, you will have to constantly update when new firmwares are released.

each time you when have to take your xbox 360 apart. now, there is a device out there Blaster 360 which allows you to update the firmware without taking the xbox 360 apart.

as far as it is, you should be able to play most of the backup games (remember you must owned the original games) by just flashing the dvd firmware.

As for mod chip, it does the same darn thing as the firmware. But why would you install a chip when you can do the firmware in less than 1 hour?
