Hi people,

Has anyone got any ideas why any embedded quicktime plugin files won't work in Internet explorer? This is on all web pages that need the plugin. All I get is light blue 'Q' with a question mark in it. Is it being blocked by an other program? I have tried running various webpages with NIS2006 disabled, I've allowed adds and popups in IE but they still won't work.

Is there a certain file thats curupt?

I running the lastest version of the plugin(7.13) that came with ITunes.

My set up is,
XP pro +sp2 +IE7 +all latest updates.

If any other pacific information reqired please post.

Open the Quicktime Player, got to Edit->Preferences->QuickTime Preferences

Click on the Browser tab and then click on the MIME Settings button.

Under Video, verify that both QuickTime Movie options are checked (all others are optional)

Under miscellaneous, uncheck the Flash Media button.

Click OK then select the File Types tab

Under video, ensure both QuickTime Movie options are checked

Under Miscellaneous, uncheck the Flash Media option

Also, under the streaming tab, select automatic and check instant on.

This should fix your problem, if not reply back.

Unfortunately it didn't work, although it did give me an idea. There was a setting in the preferences for flash media ticked. So I booted an old PC I have and loaded a web page that did not work before on it. The page loaded with all the content, but it did ask me to update the ActiveX control for Flash media.

So back on my proper PC I checked to see if there was any entries for a flash media application in the ?add or remove programs? and found one for Adobe Flash plug-in. So I uninstalled it and deleted the entries in the registry it left behind and reinstalled it, and it worked. The flash content is now working again.

Basically, when I installed iTunes with QuickTime, it altered the settings to use QuickTime as the default plug-in for flash media, but it would not revert back.

I have to admit that I didn't realise it was the flash content that was not showing or I might have solved it weeks ago.

Thanks tmr250z.
