I've been wanting a PSP now for ever but I never got around to buying one. I still don't have one but I'm going to get one today or tommorow. Now, do I have to find one with a special firmware on ebay or can I just go into a store and buy one and be able to do everything I want to do. Which is:
Play Gameboy Advanced games
Play SNES Games
Play PSP ISOs, like Portable ops and tiger woods
Play PSX ISOs like coolborders and Metal Gear Solid
I read about the OS-B firmware for the PSX ISOs but can you still play PSP games on this firmware?
Basically I just need to know if I need to get a PSP off ebay with a certain firmware or from a Used game store. I just talked to a Video Game X-Change, and they have a Used PSP that has 2.71. Thanks Guys!

If you want to do all those things, just get a PSP that has firmware 2.8 or below (as long as it doesn't have a TA-082 motherboard).
I recommend that you get a PSP with firmware 2.71 or below as no matter what type of motherboard it has a firmware 2.71 PSP can be downgraded to firmware 1.5 (which is the best firmware for homebrew including SNES Games GBA games, PSP ISOs etc).
If you want to play PSX games on your PSP then after you have downgraded to firmware 1.5, you will have to upgrade to 3.02 OE-A, and then to OE-B.

Well I got lucky and im going right now to get a PSP used with firmware 2.71 and it doesn't have any writing underneath the umd drive so I'm guessing that it isn't TA-082 or whatever. Thanks guys! Can't wait!

Well it doesn't have any orange numbers when I open the UMD drive. Are PSP with nothing there Non-TA-082s?
And is there a way to get my PSP to 3.02 OE-B without needing someone with a 1.50 version PSP? I'm almost positive there is no one I know with a 1.50 version PSP and I'm way to afraid to try and find a dumped flash online. Someone help please?

I just went to the "Everything you need to know about the PSP" sticky and went down to #112 and it says...to downgrade to 1.5 from 2.71, you must have someone with a 1.5 version PSP to dump something from it. It also says that on the Readme from the files I downloaded for the downdater271. If you could point me in the right direction for a tutorial to get my 2.71 PSP to the 3.01 OE-B or version 1.5, that would really help me out a lot. I'm brand new to this PSP stuff, but i'm pretty computer/gaming savy so all I need to do is read directions.

How do I find out? I thought I said that there is no writing in the top right corner of the inside of the UMD Drive. On the bottom, which I believe is the serial number it says PP104366927-PSP1001 if that helps.

You dont need someone with firmware 1.5 to downgrade.
If you have non-TA082 PSP with firmware 2.71, just follow this guide to downgrade to 1.5:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about17935.html
Then after you have downgraded to firmware 1.5, then upgrade to 3.02 OE-A and then OE-B.

I'm sorry Euro, but i'm sure you can imagine if you said something 3 times that you would kinda get irritated. Anyway, the thing you gave me worked perfectly and I appreciated it very much.
Now that I'm at 1.5, can I really do everything I stated I wanted to do on the 3.02 OE-B?
To go over that agian I want to:
Play Gameboy Advanced games, Snes games Nes Games
Play PSP ISOs
Play PS1 Games
Will i be able to do that with 3.02 OE-B

Well I did everything right and got my PSP to 3.02 OE-A but when I tried to upgrade to OE-B it gave me an error message. I think it said "game not recoginzed" something of that sort
Anyway, I would also like to know bongguru's question, cause obviously i'm having problems upgrading.

Ok now it's happened twice. When i tried to update to OE-B and now when I tried to run gameplaySP the gameboy advanced emulator I got the same message for both:
"The game cannot be started' then a number: 8002014C
I can't remember if it was the same number for both but I know it was the same message.
thanks

dude, switch on your psp holding r button to go into recovery mode, then go to config, enable the option about the GAME folder as 1.5 kernel, now exit and run the homebrew and upgrade to oe-b
