Ok my questions are.....i already copied the movie using dvdfab and all the little clips are in 1 folder...my main question is...what do i do now that i have all the clips in a folder? I have Nero as my burning program but do i burn with Nero or insert a blank disc in and burn it with dvdfab....i'm confused

glad you found DVDFab since the other thread where DVD Shrink alone couldn't do this movie for you.
to use Nero is easy. just open Nero Burning Rom and select 'dvd-video' compilation, then drag over (to the left in Nero) all files from the VIDEO_TS folder that DVDFab created for you. (there's nothing in the AUDIO_TS folder so ignore that one).

oh right. ok, i'll summarise how i do stuff..

DVD Shrink is awesome. There's better stuff out there but i personally only ever do 'movie only' so Shrink produces more than sufficient quality for me. DVD Shrink however is no longer updated and won't be again. (the guy who developed Shrink went to work for Nero on the 'Recode' program which i guess is the new Shrink, though i've never used Recode). Anyway Shrink can always do what it's best at - shrinking, it's just no longer able to cope with the never-ending new encryptions on newer DVD's, hence awesome programs like DVDFab Decrypter (free and paid versions), paid programs like AnyDVD (i don't use that either but i digress). So.. stuff like DVDFab/AnyDVD are awesome (just check for updates often) at the encryptions, then you can still use DVD Shrink as you would normally, just point it at the files DVDFab output. Then you can burn with Nero or other programs..

don't worry about posting..that's what we're all here for..

there's a few ways to do things but i mentioned AnyDVD just to give some alternative ideas.

I literally only use DVD Shrink to shrink movies (for films that Shrink is able to cope with the encryptions ie older films).
And for films that Shrink alone can't cope with i personally just use DVDFab Decrypter (the free one) to rip the entire DVD to hard disc (my preferrence, i'm lazy) then use Shrink as normal.

AnyDVD is a (paid) alternative to DVDFab Decrypter (though there are paid versions of DVDFab but i digress, trying to keep this simple). There's also a free program called ripit4me that needs a bit of setting up to begin with but is apparently easier to use after that as it incorporates various programs/methods 'under the hood'. I haven't used that as DVDFab Decrypter is dead simple and does all i need it to followed by DVD Shrink. That's as simple as i can explain it :)
..that's all i do for virtually all my movies (which i do lots of, i like simple!).

DVDFab Decrypter gets updated often, as does AnyDVD and other programs but it's no biggie to install and update stuff.. (i honestly do like simple, i hate messing about so trust me, this stuff is easy to update). I only don't use AnyDVD as i don't possess a Visa card with which to purchase AnyDVD after the trial period ends, no big deal as DVDFab Decrypter is updated very often to keep up with the latest encryptions...

@Demon1777

My buddy creaky has given you some nice details and explanation already, so all you got to do now is have "trust in yourself" and experience these awesome free tools.

Yes, DVD Shrink is still good -- it is one of the best FREE transcoder you'll ever find. It can still rip/decrypt few titles by itself, but not a whole lot. That's when you need a good ripper like DVDFab Decrypter, it's totally FREE (meaning you don't need to waste a dime on it).

I don't want to confuse you, so to make a long story short -- free and simple:

* DVDFab Decrypter - to rip
* DVD Shrink - to transcode/shrink
* Nero Burning Rom/Express - to burn your final VIDEO_TS folder (BUP, IFO, VOB files)

Another flawless method

* RipIt4Me - to rip, actually DVD Decrypter + FixVTS
* DVD Shrink - to transcode/shrink
* ImgBurn or Nero - to burn your final VIDEO_TS folder (BUP, IFO, VOB fiels)

DVDFab Decrypter GUIDE for newbies

NOTE: Skip VobBlanker, unless DVD Shrink has encountered an error or you want to edit/blank/delete unwanted junks only.

On a second thought, what happened to most/all of our buddies Doc TY (damn I hardly see him around nowadays), locoeng, Mort81, arniebear, Ihoe, aabbcc, binkie (she's still good and active), gwen (haven't seen her in a while). And who else? Maybe it's those time of the year (holiday) that's why. Anyways, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!

Back to subject here, so Demon, give those free tools a shot and keep us posted.

Ok when i get an update from dvdfab will it tell me that updates are available when i first open dvdfab or will i have to go on the net and search for updates? Thanks
