Hello,
I am interested in backing-up my expensive xbox360 games and am wondering about certain points that I would like, if possible cleared up. First of all I am going for the method where I use WXRipper to backup my game, and then put a regular movie with over 8 gigabytes of content to find a magic number, Rip the game in ISO format and finally patch with SS Merger. I am looking for a genius to answer these questions as I have wasted hours of Google searching to simply get more confused. My questions are:

1) Is the method I am going for the easiest and most efficient, would you recommend another and which and why?
2) Is it necessary for me to open up my Xbox360 and flash the drive as I do not want to risk damaging my console especially if opening it voids my warranty!
3) How much will this project escalate to and are there any ways to reduce prices, also to connect my xbox360 drive to my pc what cables are required?
4) For the method I am using do I need a Samsung 162c drive and if so what makes this drive so special would the pioneer 111d be better? Do I need it at all? What?s the difference, do you need both?
5) Do I need to open up my console each time I backup an xbox360 game or could I simply just do it once and that is that.
6) Approximately what is the total time to back up one xbox360 game? Or is that not possible to answer as it depends on my drive speed ect.
7) Would I back my games up on DVD-RW DL or DVD+RW DL as I notice both are used through various tutorials?
8) Can the same DVD I use to find the magic number be used over and over again or do I need to use a different DVD each time with 8gigabytes on it?
9) What are the best set of programs to use, my method requires WXRipper, IMGBurn and ss Merger ? are there easier, better ones? If so what are they called?
10) Do I need any particular firmware if so what is it called? And what does it do?
11) Has anyone damaged their Xbox360 attempting this and if so what did you do?

Sorry theses are really stupid question but I am genuinely stuck and I don?t want to risk damaging my xbox360 and a lot of people on these forums seem to know what there talking about. Please help as I would like to back by games up ASAP. All pointers are appreciated. Thank You.

Thanks again,
Sharp14.

1) no its not the easiest , samsung 162 / xbox backup creator

2)yes and no you can cut a hole in the back of the mesh but you still have to remove the outer casing.

3)you need a sata cable and a free power molex cable this depends on your chosen connection method.

4)for the easiest way to create a backup the samsung drive is required to rip the xbox game to your pc this drive is a reader only and is installed to your pc tower. if you have a dvd burner capable of burning dl +r then it might work ok as long as it can be booktypyed.

5)if you buy the samsung then no.

6)15 mins to dump it using a samsung 162 and upto 40 mins to burn it so 1 hour .

7)dvd+r dual layer

8)depends on which method you use

9) xbox backup creator or schtrom360 xtract but you need the samsung drive this does the lot for you

10)if you buy a samsung drive then yes kreon firmware

11) yes and no read the tuts right and take your time

Thanks a lot Backup, thats brilliant!! I am however, interested in the method u said was simpler "samsung 162 / xbox backup creator " would you be able to expand on that, or perhaps point me to a good tutorial. Are you saying that ALL i need is the samsung 162 hard drive and xbox backup creator?

Nonetheless, thank you very much for your reply - much appreciated. Cheers!
