umd drive makes sounds!!! how to disable it?

is there a way to turn off my umd drive?
like if i have my umd inside the drive... it runs... even tho im running stuff off memory stick (i have 3.02oe-b .... i've tried enabling and disabling no-umd option on recovery mode)

if i don't have a umd in, it makes a clicking noise along with a little bit of shaking.....(not too violent.... just a little shake wen the lens moves or something)

is there a way to shut it off?? i've tried turning off auto start umd or w/e as well in system settings
