Yes, yes, another bloody thread about internet connection problems.

Here's mine:

"A connection error has occurred (80410D17)"

I get this almost instantly when I try testing the connection I have correctly typed in, with the router's SSiD and 'Easy' settings for the IP etc. Not that this makes a difference because even when I put in the IP address details manually it still doesn't do anything.

Note that I am running this under devhook 0.51, emulating FW 3.01. The browser opens but obviously I get no websites or anything of the sort.

I have a feeling it is devhook that is for some reason stopping the connection, as the PSP actually tries to connect when I test a connection under my default FW of 1.5. It doesn't connect because I put in bogus details (because I won't risk it updating) but it doesn't return the 'connection error' message instantly like it does when trying in FW 3.01 emulation.

Another thing, a program I have called 'WifiSniffer' or something like that which runs under FW 1.5 picks up my router's connection and returns the correct details which I have put in so it can't be wrong details. The green connection light flashes wildly when trying to connect under FW 1.5 and in WifiSniffer, but in FW 3.01 it doesn't even light up at all.

My suspicions that DH is somehow preventing the connection only increase because I hear this version of DH is a BETA that was modified from the original 0.51 to be able to emulate FW 3.01.

I'm hoping there's a way round this, I have plans in the near future to uninstall devhook 0.51 and unflash it so I can install and run devhook 0.52 to emulate the latest FW.

My router is a Wanadoo (or Orange) Livebox which has 3 fully working connections to 3 PC's in my house, 2 of the PC's using the Wifi, the other on Ethernet.

This connection problem has really got me annoyed of late and I've tried lots of tricks I know to get it working with no such luck.

If somebody has DH 0.52 installed and fully working on their PSP, could you please tell me if the internet will connect and work on it. I'm hoping it's just the version of DH I'm using.

Tell me if you need more information, I've tried to put everything I can give about the situation. Cheers

I have never used Devhook 0.52 but i had DH 0.51 and the internet worked fine on it. I did get that error messege when my CPU clock was set to 333 MHZ , i just changed it too 222 MHZ using the HOME Button on the PSP.

Hmm... Well I only use CPU clock speed 333mhz when I'm playing games, otherwise I use 222mhz. That's what I'm using now and it just won't connect. Nothing. :/

My router is set into pairing mode which allows new devices to connect but it still doesn't want to budge.

Well I've got a feeling it was the CPU clock, the thing that got it working was after I went through devhook a few times and selected default clock speed manually (for some reason it kept resetting for a while to 266mhz) and eventually it just kicked into action.

It was probably my younger step-brother as he plays on GTA:VCS a lot, I really shouldn't let him on that thing without me there watching now I have the internet working, one update and I've stuffed my lovely 1.5 PSP :)

Although deviating from the topic, I was thinking of updating from DH 0.51 to 3.02OE-a/b to get the PSX emulation stuff.

Do you know if it's easy to get rid of DH 0.51 so I can install 3.02OE? Because I realise DH needs uninstalling and unflashing, can 3.02OE do this for me?

Also, I understand 3.02OE can run all the homebrew 1.5 could (with a few that don't work), I assume it's all relatively easy to use, like ISO running as well?

I've never used a custom FW before so it's a little weird to me. Oh and is it easy (or possible) to uninstall it after as well?

yeah install OE-A, its great, it can run almost all the 1.5 homebrew too.

to be extra carefull, just unflash devhook before installing

Yer, it sounds like a brilliant FW, but is it actually possible to uninstall it a later date? I'll want to update to the latest devhook to emulate FW 3.03 at some point because of the new games which need it.

So can this be done? Cheers

Just format the Memory stick if you do want to install custome FW. Running homebrew is easy on it just like a 1.50 put it in a game folder. about uninstalling it, im not sure.

Hmm, I think the PSP's Wifi system is a little flawed, I find I loose connection a lot and I only use it in my room which is next door to the router. My PC gets 2M broadband via wireless from the router as well, yet that rarely looses connection even when I'm playing Counter-Strike.

Perhaps it's the software we're running on our PSP's? Like for instance the internet won't even connect when running the CPU clock at anything but the default (when in devhook, that is).

I tried playing against my brother on Colin McRae Rally 05 and it is lousy connecting to each other. He got his 2.6 PSP recently, it killed me when he asked me to update it to the latest FW. I told him he could downgrade and emulate the FW but he just wouldn't have any of it...

I updated his FW eventually, but still, what a waste...

Ah well, makes me glad I'm smarter than him and haven't updated from 1.5 yet :)
