hey... i just recently tried to backup a copy of Burnout Revenge from the video shop ... i used DVD Decrypter and it worked, but when i go to play it on the burnt disc the game keeps freezing every 2 seconds. why ?? i tried the slowest writing speed but that didnt work. Is it some sort of protection device.. do i need better quality discs...or is my burner just s#%* ?

^Wrong forum, yes; I don't think your second 'point' is relevant, but to each his/her own.

-----------
This could be a number of things; bad media is probably the 99% solution, however. What brand/manufacturer/type of dvd media are you using? The ps2 laser is on the picky side, and prefers good media for backups. The "established" good media brands are Taiyo Yuden, Ridek, Verbatim (which are made by Taiyo Yuden anyway) and some others. Additionally, the PS2 prefers DVD-R to DVD+R (god knows why) and hates RW disks.

If the game begins to play (i.e. the ps2 doesn't say "not a ps2 disk") then you don't have any problems with copyright protection. I assume you are using a mod chip or Swap Magic, although you didn't mention it. Also, I assume that your Ps2 is not having problems playing regular (original) disks. If not, speak up; you may have a laser tuning issue.

--------
As far as the "don't discuss piracy" issue, I don't think you've crossed that line; if you were linking to warez or something of that nature, then definitely, but you haven't done anything of that nature. Just to stay on the safe side, I wouldn't mention where/how you got the original or what you were copying. The mention of the video rental store puts you near the edge; I would remove this from your post, just to be safe; it probably won't be a real issue, but better safe than sorry. We try to be at least moderately legality-conscious (or covert ;) here at Afterdawn.

Brilliant!
