I searched around the web for twenty minutes and found a video of the Saddam hanging. The "camera man" is probably 30 yards away from him and the video is shaky and of poor quality, but it DOES appear to be him, or one of his imposter's. It shows the Iraqi police putting the noose around his neck, and then there is a bunch of talking, and then he drops. After that you can't really tell what happens, but towards the end you see an apparently dead Saddam. The video kind of sucks and I would consider the possibility that it is fake.
Has anybody else found a better video of the actual hanging?
That's idiotic considering the importance of the event. I thought I heard on network news that it was filmed however the footage will be stored securely in the Iraqi archives, but they were going to release still images of the actual hanging.
No there actually were two: a "sanitized" version was released by the Iraqi govt right after the hanging but the actual hanging was left out...if was followed by b/w stills of the body. But there was also the version The Fiend is talking about which was shot on someone's cell phone. I, for one, am rather glad of the illicit one shot on the cell because it showed what a mockery the whole thing was with people in attendance joking and laughing. Not quite what either government wanted methinks and it appears the one shot illicitly is doing some real PR damage.
yes he deserved to leave this mortal coil but not an appropriate discussion for this site. It's done, whether or not Iraq/the world will be a better place we shall have to wait and see, however not here..
