"To use the Swap Magic CD to boot DVD Games Do the Following:

2.Reset your PS2 and wait till Swap Magic loads Up
3.When you see the Swap Magic Screen that saids "Load Game" along with the video settings(PAL or NTSC) eject the PS2 cd tray and take out the Swap Magic CD and and the screen will now say Refresh TOC
4.Now insert a PS2 DVD Original Game(Silver Bottom) With a High TOC(check your ps2 games on the computer and see which is the biggest game you have in size)
4.after it goes back to the Swap Magic Screen Open the PS2 Flip Top Cover and insert the DVD Backup, After This The screen should turn red and the game will start. "
I tried this yesterday on my PS2 Slim 70004, but doesn't work :(
I have SM CD 3.8. When I take out SM CD I see on the screen: "Insert bigger TOC disc". And now I insert PS2 original DVD game (GTA: San Andreas) but I can't swap it to DVD backup, because the original DVD game doesn't stop. All time the disc is turn. I can't use SM DVD beacuse the disc has broken.
I hope that You understand my text. I am still learning English.

You're suppose to use a high TOC CD game to TOC refresh with the Swap Magic CD if you're playing a CD-based PS2 game; otherwise, it won't work if you're trying to do a TOC refresh with a DVD game unless you're trying to use the 3.8 coder Swap Magic CD disc to boot a DVD backup, like the Swap Magic v3.6 CD, to play DVD backups. I'm not 100% sure of this myself if you can even play DVD backups with the newer 3.8 coder. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong =P)

Are you asking if 3.8 plays backup DVD's because of course it does or are you asking if the 3.8 cd plays backup DVD's because then your answer would be NO.
To croy00; Yeah, I can play my PS2 DVD backup games fine since I'm using the Swap Magic v3.8 DVD coder disc myself.
As to thread starter's question, I can only assume he was trying to use the Swap Magic v3.8 coder CD disc to play backed-up PS2 DVD games like with the Swap Magic 3.6 CD, which I've heard could do this (though I don't know myself. Someone care to correct me?) Maybe that's where the confusion lies since he might have misunderstood which one could o this? I don't know...
