TEMPGenc learner trouble

I have successfully split a couple of films with this however,the films I've tried since I only got to burn first "half".
In the add dvd video wizard I get a huge file and several small or empty ones. When I select the large one and move to chapter cut/edit I can only see first half (approx)of original file , which is fine for first disk but leaves me stuck for the second. Am I just being a numpty or is there something I ain't doing please?
