I don't really see what Microsoft have to gain by banning firmware mods. I mean, you can't hack Xbox Live itself, so people are still paying for that. I know a lot of people who have been persuaded into getting a 360 mainly because they can play back ups online. M$ are still getting the money for Xbox Live Gold and everything, so I can't see how they're missing out.

Game developers on the other hand are definitely not happy about it. I'm sure they're putting a lot of pressure on M$ to create some sort of patch, but hey, they've yet to do anything about it, really.

Not very likely, the worst case senario is Microsoft finds away to brick your console with a firmware update!

I highly doubt they'll ever attempt to brick anyone's console. Banning them from Xbox Live maybe, but I doubt it would ever amount to anything more severe than that.

ditto , look what happened to sony they got sued big time , besides all you will have to do is revert back to the genuine firmware , thats the best thing about flashing your own drive you should have the original fimware.... i think everyone should be safe as the flash is helping with the sales and helping m$ win the console battle ....LOL

Yeah, it's awesome the 360 is selling so well. If only it was doing the same in Japan.

Just because the PS3 has a few initial problems doesn't mean it isn't worth getting. It's yet to come out where I am, but I'm sure it'll be a great console and more than capable of giving the 360 a run for its money; besides, the 360, as much as I like it, had its share of problems when it was released too.

The Wii isn't as much of a workout as it seems. Sure, some of the games have you on your feet and tired within an hour or two, but others, like the Zelda game, can easily be played seated.

I've heard rumors, maybes, and confirmed lies- but never any actual proof that people are getting banned. If they do release a ban it'll hit everyone at once, they're not going to ban one firmware mod at a time; besides, if the bans were real, we'd be hearing about it all over this forum and across the net. That said, maybe you should check these forums every now and then before your son goes and uses XBox Live, just to make sure the ban hasn't been released. I check nearly every time before I go on.
