Help.. I am having so much trouble backing my movies up lately. I have been backing up movies for almost 2 yrs. Had a few problem in the past but now I'm stuck. I use DVDFab,Shrink then burn with decrypter. during the burning process with Decrypter it stops around 50% with the error. Data error(cyclic Redundancy check) I have updated my filmware.Changed my media. and tried other movies.I also use Ripitforme.I get the same problem.I reinstalled decrypter. I am having no luck. Should I try a diffent burning software? maybe Nero. I tried to download IMGburn.After the install I keep getting a error saying windows need to close the program. can anyone help.thanks

The CRC error usually has to do w/ the blank media you are using but it can occur if there is a structural error put there by the studios.

What is the blank media you are using?

Did you use VobBlanker or FixVTS after the ripping of the DVD to the HD. The 2 programs correct the structure errors.

Hi Car.Mike
I have backed up hundreds of movies using Memorex. I have very good luck with them. I also use TDK for a back up media. The only programs I use is DVDFab and Ripitfor me and shrink. In the past there worked well. Since about a few weeks ago I been able to back up 1 out of maybe 4 movies. I was thinking about trying sony media to rule out a media issue. I cleaned my computer. did virus scans. Reinstalled all programs.I did not use VobBlanker or fixVTS. Never used it in the past but I can give it a try?? What do you think?? thanks

If you are in the US then look at the Sunday adds for BestBuy as they have the Verbatim DVD's on sale about 1X a month. I think I last paid $14.99 for 50 the last time I bought (+)DVD's there. The Verbatims are far superior to the DVD's you are using and usually on sale are priced less than the media you are using

You can try this
1. Rip the DVD to HD
2. Use VobBlanker on the ripped files
3. Use Shrink to process

Below is a guide on using VobBlanker written by Alcohol and it is using DVDFab Decrypter as the ripper.
