Hey there everyone! I'm very new to ps2 backups but i have been reading every post on this site for about a month now. I recently got a swap magic 3.8 Coder and i have run into a little problem.

it seems that the games that i bit torrent burn well and run well(if i find a torrent that isnt fake or corrupt) in my ps2. but when i try to back them up myself they're verry skippy and of poor quality.

i just ordered 100 8x premium taiyo's from supermedia and will recieve them on the fifth and am currently using maxell to tide me over. do you think the media is to blame or is it perhaps my burner? It is a pioneer, thats about all i know about it.

any information and help is greatly appreciated. Fhery

i think maxell DVDs are of high quality, and of course your pioneer burner shouldn't be the problem. if the games you are burning (from torrents) work fine, and the ones you're ripping yourself aren't, then i think there may be a problem with how you're ripping the games, or the original discs themselves may be defective.

how many games have you tried to rip on your own and how are you doing it? There may be some minor settings that u need to change. Also, try burning with both DVD Decrypter and Alcohol 120.

Good luck.

i've burned "bully" myself from an original. what i did was rip it using DVD Decrypter, and burned it with the same program. i recommend always burning at 4x.

back when i used low quality dvds, sometimes i would burn a game and it wouldn't even boot up. then i burned it again using the same program, same burner, same type of media, and it would work fine. these things happen... but i would suggest burning with DVD Decrypter, and if that doesn't work, try again with Alcohol 120 (if u dont mind wasting a dvd or two.)

agree with above, DVD Decrypter works great for backing up
games from the original discs. I have used it for quite a while
now and with quality discs it has never failed me.
Try DVD Decrypter and see if the game works.
Unless the Swap Magic has a problem with that particular game and it needs to be rebuilt or something then it should work fine.

my taiyo's are doing worse then my maxells!

i dont get it, i burned madden 07 to a maxell at 8x and it worked alright, with a bit of skipping here and there but i just burned it to a legit taiyo(tyg02) at 4x and it has audio problems as well as being stuck at a loading screen.

please help. i used dvd decryptor but did not book type as a rom. i dont know how to booktype since dvd decryptor does not have a tab for pioneer.

thats really odd. download dvd identifier and post your DVD information. it is possible that your taiyo yudens may be fake.

heythere econ, thanks for the help man. I dont know how to post a screen shot so i will just type it in exactly as i see it. i just got the identifier and here's what it says:

unique disc identifier: [dvd-r:TYG02]
manufacturer name: [Taiyo yuden co. ldt.]
manufacturer id: [TYG02]

also my DVD-RW drive identifier is :Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D [FW 1.06]-[ATAPI}

i hope you can help me lol i dont think they're fake. is it possibly the fact that the taiyo's are -r instead of +r? or maybe it's my firmware? gosh i dont know but this is killing me lol

i waited a whole week for these taiyo's and now its a big let down.
