im wondering the same thing. i've been searching and searching here but looks like you need the action replay software, a usb flash drive, AND a ps2 memory card? at least these are the items needed in all the how to faq's i've read here so far. i too was hoping that the usb flash drive was all i needed in place of the standard sony ps2 8mb memory card. anyone have the definitive answer??

You cannot use a USB drive in place of a memory card. You can however, transfer game saves from a memory card to a USB drive for storage. The caveat being that you can't load/save game saves from the USB drive.

In regards to transferring games saves (like the ones on GameFAQs) to a memory card, you have the option of using Codebreaker/Action Replay OR running an exploit and using uLaunchELF w/ Savebuilder (see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/366481 ). The latter is kind of a moot point though (unless you have already done the exploit), since most methods involved in getting the exploit to run require Codebreaker/Action Replay to transfer the relevant files from the USB device to the MC.

@orthogonl

i used ulaunchelf - burnt the cd and used the ps2savebuilder and transferred my data to the memory card. i look at the memory cards contents using the ps2's browser and it is there. then i put in tekken 5 and it doesnt read it. it doesnt look corrupted. it looks normal. and tekken 5 says that there is no saved data. i follwed all the steps carefully. still not working??

Go to http://orthogonl.byethost9.com. Check the /elf directory and transfer the second file from the top to your USB storage device. Get your save file from GameFAQS (.cbs) and transfer it to your USB device. Insert your USB drive into your PS2. Go to uLaunchELF->FileBrowser. Navigate to the file I directed you to download earlier (should be under MASS:). Once you have it selected hit X to execute the ELF file. From there it should be self explanatory.

Good Luck!

i've got codebreaker working. now, it should be self explanatory but it seems not. i downloaded a save game from gamefaqs - a north american file http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/save/tekken_5_a.cbs ...my slim ps2 and tekken 5 game is copied and both are PAL. does the region of the save game matter?
Also i can't seem to get the cheats working. i went to the cheat menu and activated a few cheats for tekken 5. then i went to start game and without resetting the ps2 i opened the lid and put my tekken 5 disk in then i pressed x. like it said on the codebreaker. then when i went to see if the cheats worked the game was still as if it has never been played before.

plz help a.s.a.p
