okay i got my xbox 360 modded with nme. 2 weeks later the dvd drive broke. is this comon with the nme chip?

also he is trying to charge me 200 for the part and to install it. but putting the mod chip back on is free he says. how can it be 200? anyone have a place that sells this drive i need? i need the samsung.

first of all, bad choice with the chip. second goto ebay and get the drive. But you are toasted, because you don't have a backup of the key on you current broken dvd rom to apply to the new dvd rom.

how are you going to use the new purchase dvd rom? each dvd rom has a key corresponding to what's on the xbox 360 motherboard.

you might get luck and remove the chip off the broken dvd and it might work long enough for you to flash it and extract the key off it.

Did the drive actually break? As in some part broke? If so then that's good as you can just swap your board out of your drive and put it in the new drive.

Explain what "broke".

but uhh anyone have an idea if the drive breaking is comon with the nme chip?

well it gives me a red circle when the dirve is in, and when its out it loads up. so i figrued its the drive and the guy who is fixing it found out the same as i did. so it gives me a black error telling me i need to service it and thats it.

i believe it's the chip. I have talked to couple of people with the same issue using the nme chip.

alright, the guy has a 30 day if it breaks i fix it. but he's saying it doesnt count to this. it counts to if the mod chip breaks. which is bull. whatever the new part is installed on is what should be fixed i say. since this nme chip is installed on the rom drive it should be fixed for free...

he is trying to charge me 80 dollars to install the drive like just drop it in and hook it up. lol so im telling him ill come in open it up. and drop it in and he can install the chip for free.

he has it stored on his computer where he does the modchipping.

200 dollars to open up the xbox and drop a drive in seems a bit much, doesnt it?

yeah that's a rip! why $200?

you should have done the firmware flash yourself => $0

chip is not as stable as firmware flash. all the soldering crab! yuck!

tell the guy to give you the new dvd and tell him to give you the darn dvd key. as long as he holds the dvd key, he can demand $$$ from you to fix it. You can put the new dvd in yourself, it's easy!

Then we can help you to flash the new dvd rom with your original xbox dvd rom key.

well im talking to the guy who hired this guy about not charging me 95 dollars to install a drive.

he says his work will work and if it breaks within 30 days he does repair. he claims that a sticker grafix i had on my xbox is what broke my rom drive. i said to him "that may make sense if it was blocking any vents and that would really only apply to the cpu over heating.

if hes not going to drop the charge ill firmware it i think. i dont have 200 dollars to spend on that i already spent 170 to modchip it. if i pay the 200 thats 370 for modchipping for christsakes.
