try the reserves, they dont send you unless they really need you, and you can continue your schooling there

Let me tell you that the army will check your medical and psychiatric histories, and test you for drugs.
Fail any of those tests, and you don't get in.
So consider that before applying for a job there.

I signed up the summer after my junior year. I went in on the delayed entry program. So, ten days after graduation I was on a plane for basic training. From what I understood, a high school diploma was almost mandatory with only a limited number accepted with GED. What matters most is your ASVAB score. The ASVAB is a knowledge test to help place you for possible jobs. The jobs available to you will be determined by your overall score and sectional scores. I recommend you take the "student" version versus the "regular" version. The student version you take through your school versus the regular version you take via arrangements with a recruiter. The student version is far easier than the regular version... or at least it was when I took them. I had already taken the regular version through my recruiter but decided to take the student version in school just to get out of a couple classes and scored much higher.

There are no jobs that guarantee you safety from deployment. A soldier is a soldier. But there are some jobs that seem less intense than others. There are plenty of clerical jobs. But if you don't want to make a career of it, you may want to consider a job that translates to the real world. There are plenty of mechanics... which last I knew, HUMMER dealerships pay fairly well as well as aviation mechanics. And also all sorts of communications tech jobs. Be smart about it and think things through. Once you pass your tests and physical and such, you'll meet with someone who will go over your interests with you and what jobs are available to you based on your scores.
