so basicly i bought my psp from gamecrazy, which has a strick return policy and i up graded my firmware when i thought the ta-082 was doomed but seeing people with dark alex's open editions gave me new light so i bought the thing this week and I have 7 days to return for any problams so I need a way to make it so I can internaly break my psp and not have any suspicion from the clerk or anyone. if they do belive its broken they will give me a new psp and im pretty sure all new core psp's have 2.6 if they are ta-082.

any ideas?

First of all, your not supposed to do that. That being said, you could brick it(and say the power failed while updating). You could also short it out by sticking some conductor of electricity into the back with the disk tray.

Again, what your doing is wrong and you may still may not be able to exchange it resulting in a useless PSP. Now, you could just start an update then cut all power part way through.

Hum? I would put some glue or tape on one of the battery contacts so it wont turn on and then exchange it for just the psp console itself. so you won't feel guilty. Just my two cents.

You could try putting a little bit of tape over the lens in the UMD Drive so that it won't read disc's.

the simplest way would be stopping the update at around 50% like wierdname said, that should definately brick

i didnt do anything to it and told the guy it froze alot and he tried a couple of games and he got to the last game and it froze. it never froze with me. :D

You'll need to "rip" those games to ISOs if you want to play from the memory stick and/or use devhook to launch the ISO/UMD. For psx games theres another thread on this.
