No voice on vlc (avi)

Playing an AVI file in VLC, 0.8.6a, all is well, but there in no voice, just sound and sound effects. I just installed 0.8.6 after having 0.8.4a. Using DivX player, it works just fine, and GSpot tells me I have all the codecs installed.Tried another AVI file, and it worked fine. So any input would be appreciated, as I'd much prefer to use VLC!

Sorry if ive misunderstood you, but i had a similar problem when playing an AVI file, all i had was the audio, no video.

It turned out that i needed to download the XviD codec, maybe you need this or another type of codec?
