ok follow this steps :
If you have tried to recover using the Recovery Folder and UPDATE.PBP(1.50 FIRMWARE)
and it just doesn't work(psp goes black and shutsdown)...

do the following:

1. Obtain the systemctrl.prx from a 3.02OEB PSP. DA said others can be used,
2. Put that file inside a folder called "reflash" on the root directory of your mem-stick.

3. Turn on your PSP holding down R to boot up into recovery mode.

4. Go to advanced settings and select to reflash the systemctrl.prx (1.50).

Once you do this, I would suggest downgrading to 1.5 then back up to 3.03OE.

At this point you should be able to use PBP files again on your PSP.

Place the Recovery folder found in 3.02OEB into the Game Folder on your Memstick.
Place the 1.50 firmware inside that folder.
( rename the eboot to UPDATE.PBP)

Then you can launch the program from the recovery mode.

ps: let me know if this works !!

@ donni223
what the guys are say is this

you say you can put a UMD in the drive and it will boot up yeah ?
well if this is the case get a UMD game that requires 2.60FW or round about there, higher than ya 1.50 anyways
when you boot up the PSP with this game in the UMD drive it will prompt you to run the update b4 you can run the game

this will update your PSP and hopefully restore it for you.

then downgrade or whatever you want to do
but b4 you do all this make a backup of the machine using nand image dumper for safe keepings in case something bad was to happen to that idstorage area

you could tray flashing it with a nandimage.flash file over the top
this should sort it out

I managed to bring my semi-bricked PSP back to life using the recovery tool. All you need to do is download the RECOVERY.rar file which should be extracted into the PSP\GAME\RECOVERY folder. The rar contains all the files to enable you to restore back to 1.50.

For some reason I dont have the option to reflash the systemctrl.prx (1.50).
