Ive been using DVDShrink for a few weeks now but recently I have been getting a lot of errors in the burn process ( which translates to wasted blank DVDs ). Ive tried using several different types of movies ( Disney, MGM, old, new) to see if maybe it was an encryption problem but it doesnt seem to be due to the fact that even movies I have seccefully backed up in the past wont copy now. I have also checked my DVD-ROm drive but theres no problem there. Can anyone help me out?

I would run the movies through DVD FAB Decryptor too DVD-9 files, and then open those files with DVD Shrink and go from there.
Some things to check:
1) Latest firmware for your DVD-ROM and/or DVD-RW drive(s)?
2) Are you burning at half of the burn speed of the discs you are using? (16x disc's should be burned at 8x, but most people here say to burn at 4x.)
3) Do you have the latest version of Nero / DVD Shrink?
4) What make of discs are you burning with?

You mentioned getting "lots of errors" but didn't list any of them, or at what point in the process they occured. Is it occuring while Shrink is analysing/encoding or while your burn program is burning?
Shrink cannot burn anything by itself so the program you used to burn with may have a problem. If it happens to be Nero, please post your Nero burn log.
If Nero 7...
C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory.log
Newer Nero 7 versions are saved in:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ahead\Nero Burning ROM
If Nero 6...
C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log
If you do post your Nero log, make sure to remove your serial number.
I agree with rcrockett about checking out the things he listed. I think burning at 1/2 the rated media speed is correct and may result in a better burn; ie, burn 16X media at 8X.

Thanks for responding guys and sorry for being so vague. The error is occouring during the Burn stage. Analysis and Encoding go fine but when the Burn process gets to about 80% it fails to burn. I posted the Nero history log above. Hope that helps.

Thats what we needed. You did leave your Nero serial number in so you should edit that out. It's the top # that starts with 1a20- .....
Your blank media is generally pretty good, Listed as Ritek:
Quote: 11:02:41 AM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2457
Recorder: LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: RITEKF - 1
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193
The SCSI error shown here is the typical "bad media" error. This type of error is almost always related to something wrong with the media. The reasoning here is that things were going along just fine intill something interupted the process.:
Quote: 11:08:21 AM #26 SCSI -1135 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1436
SCSI Exec, HA 3, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x00DD0000
Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
Something that could cause good media to go bad is too high a burn speed:
Quote: 11:08:21 AM #31 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276
Burn process failed at 16x (22,160 KB/s)
Try 8X or 4X.
Another thing that is related to this is your burners firmware:
Quote: Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S> Version: YGS3 - HA 3 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15
Visiting rpc1.org lists all the firmware for this drive as:
Quote: LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S - YS0B, YS0G, YS0R, YS0V, YS0W, YS0X, YS0Y, YS0Z
Note that the last version is the most current and the one you have listed by Nero is not even listed which is odd. Do not update your firmware until you try a slower burn speed, updating Nero, etc, first. This firmware may be from some other source besides Lite-On. Leave it until last.
Updating Nero 6 to the most stable version:
Get both:
Package 1:
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2 :
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
At the bottom:
Quote: CDRALW2K.SYS
Roxio EasyCD creator software which can interfere with the burn process.
You can use a Nero utility to remove problem drivers. You can get it here.

Ive adjusted the burn speed and have also used the Nero utility to remove some problem drivers. After reboot I had to re-install AnyDVD. After that I tried burning Idlewild ( a DVD that i've burned before )and I now have a new error message. Error:\nCannot connect to TRF. Note that I have not attempted to adjust/update the firmware. Im not an advanced user and have basic experience with computers so I dont want to mess anything up. Any help with that would also be greatly appreciated

Found at the link below will be an explanation as to why you're getting that error message and what to do about it.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/325848
Note: If you had updated nero6 as fasfrank suggested, the error would not have occured.
Cheers:)

Yep, It was one of Nero's bigger mistakes. Everything was going along fine with Nero 6 as they were getting ready to release Nero 7. Then for some unfathomable reason, the last couple of updates to Nero 6 started throwing those TRF errors when trying to autoburn with Shrink. It was a bit baffling at first. John figured it out and Creaky made a sticky out of the thread.
About the same time they started adding the Yahoo toolbar as an added "bonus". So the recommended versions are free of that nonsense as well.
I suppose some people like it but to me it is kinda like spam....You have to elect NOT to install it. Installing Nero can be a bit daunting so most beginners just do the default install, which will include the toolbar.
There are two download packages listed, the second is for NeroVision. The last versions of NeroVision were tested and found to be buggy so that was included as well.
Here they are again:
Update Nero from here, both packages
Package 1:
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2 :
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
Nero's registry checker screws up AnyDVD on my PC as well. I just do what you do and reinstall it.
