The Hitachi 0078FK drive can now be flashed.
You need the Slax 2.0 CD to get Windows to recognise the drive and Maximus Firmware Toolbox 3.0 to flash it.
Mine works great.

even if it won;t work with the nforce chipset, it is probably cheaper to buy a pci sata card then give someone 40 dollars and waste one hours worth of gas. plus in the end, you have the pride of doing it yourself and you have the ability to help others too. sorry, i was watching dr. phil earlier.... haha

It's not really that hard to do, but I can see how it can be intimidating for someone. Not everyone feels that comfortable working on computers. I say if you feel comfortable installing a new hard drive in a PC then there's little reason you shouldn't be able to flash a 360. If you don't feel comfortable doing stuff like that then there's no shame in paying someone.

Ya, if your chipset doesn't work, you can just buy a SATA to USB device, for 10 bucks on ebay. I just got mine in today, and I was able to get my drive into ModeB, which I was pretty proud of.

Just type in ebay "SATA to USB Converter" (without the quotations). It will bring up a list of them. I think they are all the same. It has a SATA cord, then a box, then a USB cord. Before you buy though, check to see where it's shipping from. Most are coming from Hong Kong, and it may take a while to ship. I got mine from a guy in California, and I live in Utah, so it came in 2 days.
