Hello,

I am contemplating in getting an External HDD Enclosure for my PS2. I am tired of opening up my computer just to connect the computer's IDE to the PS2 HDD.

If I do, can winWHIIP read the External HDD? Considering that, the External HDD uses USB 2.0, not IDE. It may seem like USB 2.0 is a 'long' way out of this, but I have a lot of patience (contradiction not intended).

But anywho... I have a SG 160GB HDD, I need a simple encloser that I can connect to the PC -> transfer PS2 iso -> HDD (Encloser w/ USB 2.0 transfer rate) -> PS2.

Here is a great example: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/369291

I hope, someone can give me the answer to this question.

Thanks.

well, there are a few things you can do to solve the problem.
1. get HD Loader or HD Advance discs. Then you can load games right from the disc to the hard drive.
2. get a DMS4 Pro mod chip installed, same as above. it has built in HD loader so you can load them to the HDD from the disc.
3. Set up an FTP server on your hard drive so that all you have to do is connect the PS2 to the PC with an ethernet crossover cable and transfer stuff back and forth.

If you want to go with USB then just know that it will be slower than the internal drive. It will be ablout the same speed as using the DVD. Why get the enclosure and USB Extreme, when you can just get HD Loader and use what you have.

When I need to patch my HDD games, I just take it out of my PS2, put it in a hard drive enclosure (you could get one for $20-$30), connect it through USB 2.0, and it works with WinHIIP.

It's Festivus for the rest of us!

I just bought myself a HDD enclosure. It's very simple and efficient.
