Do you have a wireless router? are you using a ISO or a UMD, if you're using ISO is it ripped? and if it is maybe the online feature got ripped. let us know.

ok. where did you get it from? what game is it?
Also you're sure you can get online? if you go to your internet option and go to a website it loads, just to be sure its not the router itself.
