Please HELP,lost operating windows on my laptop

hi guys,i wanted to run the other day my recovery disc on toshiba 1900 303 laptop P4,xp home edition, to clean from viruses,was going very slow, after i put it in the 1st recovery disc followed instuction then proces started up ,after 2% of proces disc stoped,dont know why maybe files dameged or dnt know,tryed again still the same!!now my laptop wont start up ,message coming up like "cant find operating system".Please any one can help how to restore my operating windows or are the dameged afet recovery disc stoped at 2% runng recovery proces.

put the disks into the light to see if can see any light thru holes in the disks' coatings. wash the disks in soapy water & dry carefully. use rubbing alcohol & a q-tip to clean the rom drive laser lens.

thank you , i will try now exactly how you said.the disc seems to be ok,few fine scraches...i will try to clean as you said and will clean the laser lenc too...i will let you know if any results.thankx again,bess-ireland

Bessi: Don't play with the laser if at all possable. Those things are very sensitive

yes there are few scratches alright on the disc,i didnt touch or try to clean the laser lense(affraid doing any damage).stil wont read the recovery disc only goes as far as 2% then stops...what about the cleanin the lense with the kit you buy in shop for cleaning ,would that be any good.

scratches on the logo side of cd or otherside? can try cleaning kit but to save money just use q-tip & rubbing alcohol. does laptop have a floppy drive?

yes got one floppy drive in laptop.but the disc drive in laptop reads other discs like dvd,music cd,just wont read the recovery disc.

yes floppy drive is one on it...
