Hey, great guide!!

One thing (actually 2):

1. I dont have my M3 simply yet, so cant just try this out (getting it in 2 working days!!)! I have downloaded the 1.04 firmware. I have now got a folder called :

M3_DS_Simply_System_v1.04_English

containing 2 folders an NDS file and a DAT file. Do I need to copy all 4 objects to the Micro SD card?? That is what I assumed!

2. How the hell do you skin the simply? I've seen guides on other sites, but they are about as clear as mud, and are worded like a 10 year old wrote them! Is there a simple way to skin it or is it a complex procedure?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, just drag the 4 objects over to your MicroSD card.

In the _system_ folder are where the themes are kept, if you look at these you will see they are just .bmp files, so replace these with files of the same size, name and filetype.

Great guide! now i can use homebrew on my simply! MAKE SURE TO GET DLDI!!!!!!! http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/index.html

just a few questions mr hanky
1. is it theoretically possible to use the m3 simply to dump nds roms?
(i know at this point its not, just wondering for the future)
2. is there any other way (currently) to get homebrew apps to run on the simply other than using the media icon?
3. is there a way to setup to be able to use DSO and Okiwi on the same card without having to change files around?

1. Yes, BUT it would require you to keep removing and inserting the M3 and game your dumping, not so bad for smaller games but will be a problem for larger games (128MB game, only 4MB of RAM) sop chances are no one will develop such a application. Another method might be to use wireless an dump it to a computer, but again chances of someone programming a dumper like this is slim.

2. Yes, using the media icon is optional, just run any homebrew from the Game menu (as if it was a game)

3. Probably yes, but I have never used Okiwi.

I have a problem with loading a saved game. I have the Pokemon Pearl save file in my battery folder with my no$gba, and I want to transfer what I accomplished so far into my micro sd card. And when I tried to transfer the transformed file to my micro sd card, the game does not load the saved game, it starts a new game. I selected the save game, transformed it into a m3dss file, the ds recognizes it but does not load the game that I have in the save file.

Drag everything inside the "m3_ds_Simply_v1.04_english" to your MicroSD card.

I have never heard of or used them, but a look at the website makes me think it is a simple maybe home-run business, they do use https for payment which is better than some websites i've seen.

Maybe wait and see if someone here has used them.

Hello Sickley,
This I cant really answer your question since I have never dealt with the websites you mentioned but I have recently ordered a R4 DS from Bamboo Gaming
It was ordered two weeks ago so it is should arrive shortly.
They are currently at a discounted price (I got it delivered for only $39.00 AUD which is about $32 USD.)
If you would prefer to get a M3 DS (although essentially identical to the R4), they are also available for about $32 US.
I will keep you posted when my R4 arrives.

UPDATE: looking back over the last couple of pages in this thread I noticed that woodrew has already mentioned bamboogaming.com, sorry about the duplicate information.

Now dealextreme is a website I can recommend, I use them on a regular basis (however never have done for the M3 or R4) The default shipping is quite slow, but the prices are very good.

hey guys, I just got my m3 yesterday and after messing around for a while, I can't seem to find a "shell" folder anywhere on my install disc. I'd appreciate it a lot if somebody could upload it, send me a link, or email it to me at pichupchu (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Yeah, there are tons of them. Amazon, Target, Walmart, Gamestop and so on. I hope you're not requesting pirated games.

I love M3 DS simply... It can play homebrew games such as clone IPOD for MP3, Moonshell(Mp3/PDG-movies), Ds orginzer and NES, SnesDS games. Of cource retail DS games or back up your own copy of may roms plays well. But I have issue swith the SNESDS emulator that it does not play Doom.smc rom. Does anyone please help me with this issues? Doom.smc rom just gives me white screen. I can play many other *.smc roms but not doom.smc!
ANy idea? Or can someone show me how to do?

Thx

not all games will work in the emulator, doom could be one of the games that don't work (havn't checked).

Why are you trying to play doom using a SNES emulator though? There is a homebrew Doom game.

@yjusa

the snes and nes emulators for ds are still basically in beta form, your lucky to get any games running in good condition (or even at all in some cases)

i remember when i first tried to run smb3 on a nes emulator for ds and it run but the speed was so far off the game was unplayable

however, there is a pc doom port to ds that should work on the simply (i have not tried it yet, when i get time i will check it out for you)

i assume you will need to have the .wad file and need to dldi the doom.nds

edit: there is a homesite for it http://dsdoom.devkitpro.org/
looks like you will need a number of files from the original doom pc game *** sorry i read closer, it will only need the wad from the game

Thx...
Doom games is only games at the moment I can't figure it out how to work with M3 DS simply. I can not seem to DSdoom.nds to load doom.wad file. The DLDI is not patching Dsdoom.nds,also. Beside I hear DSdoom.nds is not playing music. So I am waiting for new update news.

Anyway, with SNEmulDS, I am playing Street fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball Z and Super Mario world.

P.S. Use good speed micro memeory card. I tried low speed rated micro sd, it is freezing up or having loading issues. Faster speed micro SD always works with any DS games,& emulations.

Thx
