I recently bought a pack of Phillips DVD-Rs.

Are these good for backups? Has anyone had any success/problems with them?

i had great success with them for both movies and games.
both PS2 and Xbox
The 8X were the best, the 16X work pretty well too but i mainly
stuck with the 8X but they have become hard to find in local stores.
You should not have a problem with the Philips.

Yeah They shouldnt be to bad but for less money you can get 50pack Ritek G05 -R 8x whihc I reckon work better but cost less.
Since youve bought them they shouldnt be bad i mean Philips has always been quality in all products.
