I've been keen lately on wanting to turn my PSP into a handy PC joypad in the hope of saving keyboard space by playing 2 player games (like Serious Sam and my SEGA Megadrive/Genesis emulator) with one person using the keyboard for controlling their player, and another person using my PSP as a controller for their player.
I followed this guide here which was very helpful and I've managed to install everything it mentions successfully (I can assume, everything is where it told me it should be).
The programs used are Wifi Controller 0.42 (for making the wifi connection between my PC and the PSP) and PPJoy 0.83 (for setting up a virtual joypad which I've configured correctly according to the guide).
I have the background program wificontroller.exe running in the background on my PC which effectively turns my PC into a host for the wifi program on my PSP when it tries to connect. This is where it goes wrong, when I run the program on my PSP and tell it to connect to my IP, it gets to connection state 2 of 4 and just stops for some reason. I get the green connection light flashing for a second or two on my PSP then it just stops. I've tried waiting and waiting with nothing new happening, but I can always still press the Home button on the PSP to get out of the program, so it can't be that it's crashed.
My suspicion is that my wireless adapter doesn't want to bridge the connection between my PSP and my PC. I am using an Inventel USB adapter which connects wirelessly to an Orange (or Wanadoo) Livebox which supplies an internet connection.
I may try fiddling with the settings on my PC, maybe disable the connection temporarily and attempt to make a connection through Window's wireless network managing thing, although my wireless network is managed by a program that come with the installation for my internet (WLAN Manager by Inventel). I may try just try to connect my PSP up through that although I doubt it will work that way. I also don't know if you can set up a network in Windows WLAN that allows devices to connect to it as a host, but then again the wificontroller.exe program that runs in the background SHOULD act as the host, so I think my PSP just can't access the connection via my wireless adapter or something.
Perhaps I should try connecting to my router instead of directly to my PC? This seems silly to me though because of the fact Wifi Controller is designed to connect straight to my own PC (and besides I'm not using the main PC the network has been set up on) via my wireless adapter.
I've allowed the port the program runs on to access my PC through my firewall so that can't be a problem.
I really don't understand what's going on. Any help is appreciated, I've tried the site both of the programs came from with little luck.
